Remove avatar and remove - select country - ?

Hi guys, being new to Dolphin I have some questions, I really can't figure it out myself, hope you guys can help me out :-)

It would be greatly appreciated!

• How do make - profile photo - to be the - Avatar - picture? (we do not need avatars, we want to profile photo to be our users' "avatar", and just remove the whole avatar thing) And how do I make the size of the - profile photo- thumbnail, slightly larger, both in the search results and on the rest of the site? 
• How do I remove - select country - feature, in both the search form and the create profile phase? (we only operate in one country, it would therefore seem odd that you can select "your country")
• I can't really see any use for the bottom grey bar on site, except for administrator use, how I remove it for my members?
• How do i remove the search bar on site?

In the admin section of your dolphin site, Settings - Advanced Settings - Profile - change member thumb and member thumb icon to profile photo

in Builders - profile fields - in the join and edit profile tabs (make sure to go through all options - admin, owner) and drag the country block to the inactive area

Settings - templates - settings - uncheck enable member menu

search here in the forums, there are a couple of different ways to remove the search bar.

 Welcome aboard , we all had to start here too.. Your in for a ride, lol.

 The search box top right here is a great tool, usually most of what you may think is stupid has most likely already been asked and solved.

These forums are here for those questions, so never hesitate to ask even if you think it's simple; having others in on the problem is the fastest solution.

I think there is sooo many "stock" mods coming with Dolphin, I really don't know which ones i should activate and which one not to :-/

We are starting a small meeting/dating community, for young ppl in the range of 18 too 25 years.
Could anyone pls be kind to advice us witch mods coming with the Dolphin "box" would be good to activate?

We just bought 10 mods from the genius Mr. Modzzz and a language translator too ease the translations part, theese we are starting to customize now.

Like i wrote, we are just having doubt, in what other mods could be handy for us?

And Is there a good chat & video chat build in to Dolphin, or could someone maybe recommend a good one?

Bc the one i find in the stock Doolphin is looking sooo outdated/old school (maybe just me doing smt wrong?).

Perhaps you need to explain. It's really quite useful, so perhaps i am misunderstanding what you mean by gray bar.

That bottom bar is called the member menu. and everything on it except for the admin panel link is designed for the members. Not the administrator. That bar has a lot of handy items on it. The friends icon will have a red balloon that shows the number of friend requests when they are made. It shows the number of items in the shopping cart. The number of notifications. Number of messages waiting. Members can set their presence such as online, offline, away and busy. Set their status message. It's also where simple messenger chats will appear and in fact, without the member menu, you can't even use that messenger.

But it can be shut off in the admin settings if your really don't want it, but it cannot be enabled just for the admin. It's either on for everyone or off for everyone.

First, welcome.  I'm also basically a no0b but I've been building a site for about a year now and we are just ready for prime time.  I may be able to offer a bit of help with regard to good mods and how things work (or don't work).  When it comes to hard core coding questions ask someone else (some who have already posted in this thread are some of the most helpful in these parts) because that stuff is waaaaay over my head.

The best bit of first advice I can give is to test EVERY function to make sure it works the way you want it to.  Too damn often things do dot work like they should but with some adjustment you can probably get the functionality you are looking for.

An example is your first question about Profile Pics & Avatars.  By default when using the P Pics option, the latest picture uploaded will become the new profile pic.  This sucks.  What I did to get around this was 3 things.

1- enable the Avatar mod because, while it has its downsides (including the Av/Profile Pic being a bit smaller) at least the pic doesn't change with every new upload.

2- write a brief tutorial instructing Members how to set an Avatar.

3- relabel Profile Pictures to Uploaded Pictures everywhere on my site to avoid confusion.
