Problem:
People who attempt to register on the site are not recieving their validation email or their confirmation email.
Current settings are:
Automatic profile activation after joining: UNCHECKED
Do not change profile status after editing profile information: CHECKED
Automatic profile confirmation without Confirmation Email: UNCHECKED
I have discussed this issue with my hosting company and they believe that the majority of the concern is that Hotmail accounts are being blocked by the Hotmail/MSN spam filters due to the use of the Dolphin platform.
Hotmail will not say what it is about the Dolphin platform that their filters determine are spam oriented, because, they claim it will compromise their anti-spam software.
Since a very large number of internet users have and use Hotmail/MSN as their email address, the issue, of not being able to varify and validate registrants that use Hotmail/MSN email addresses, cuts deeply into the number of potential members a site could get.
I have also noticed that it is not just Hotmail/MSN, but sometimes AOL, and Yahoo as well seem to be blocking the emails generated from registration process.
QUESTION 1:
What is it in the Dolphin platform and or the email routines included, that would trigger spam filters and cause them to blacklist sites that use the Dolphin platform?
QUESTION 2:
Is there a work around for this issue that will enable the site to generate a varification and confirmation email for the purpose of registration that will not identify the mail as being generated by a Dolphin platform based site?
My ultimate goal here is to be able to use the email to assist in the account varification and validation of registrants being real people and not spam bots. The captcha is not enough to stop spam bots from joining the site and spewing their bogus ads all over the site.
SOLUTION: ???
