Register.com

If you are using Register.com, you have a problem. I have been trying to transfer names away from them for several months now. I have one in particular that I have been working on. I started the process before the name expired.

You will go through a week long process to get your auth code, then give it to the new registrar. after another week goes by, you will get an email saying they have denied the transfer because of  'suspicious activity' . They have done this three times now.

Making a complaint to ICANN or Internic falls on deaf ears and they don't actually take any action. Now they domain name has expired even though I have already paid the new registrar and register.com has moved the domain name to expired.register.com further complicating it. the domain name change causes it to fail once again.

This is a process they use to gain domain names they want control of. I have a total of 15 names I am trying to move from them and the process to complete this task is virtually impossible to complete.

HFW has been little if any help in this process because their own transfer process is a mucky gluck bitch process that itself is worthless and causes failures.

I have been trying to complete this task since the first of February.. It;s a nightmare.

Fun and Foo?

Oh hell, I don't care where you put it. I just needed to vent. Register.com is about as useless as tits on a boar hog.

i think transfer of domain is not in hands for the registrar its processed by ICANN. Correct me if i am wrong but i think ICANN is the culprit.

so much to do....

ICANN makes the rules but the transfer is done by the registrars..

You are actually supposed to get an auto generated authority code to get it done. A dot com only takes at the most a day or two. So if you let them off waiting for a eek, they will keep giving you crappy excuses. I know as I have my own Domain affiliate company and have done many transfers. I too had an issue with one, but never a dot com. It was .CA, but now the Canadian's have made it extremely  smooth and it only takes like an hour to transfer your domains.

Well I hope it all works out. What you should do is start a bit early but more importantly hound them every few hours, pester them, I did and it worked.

It all depends on how bad the company you are transfering FROM is. I know 1&1 makes you wait 5 to 7 days. Actually from what Sky said 1&1 and register.com use the same questionable practices.

The domain finally shifted to the new registrar after much yelling and screaming. Now I am contacting HFW to help me complete the other 15 names I want to move.

I will never again use Register.com for any of their services.

Their stance on SOPA kind of ruined it for me.

Edit: "Final nail in the coffin" is more appropriate.
