^^ should keep it active ... you could also use script that restarts it whenever it stops.

Hi Tussery,

This is very common in Linux and yes very annoying.  I posted two links I have used which helped me very much when I was first learning, if you have any questions just let me know.

Did you read the links I provided on how to install Screen a small Linux application?  This should have fixed it for you.  If not I am free tomorrow after 7pm EST of you wanted to remote connect to each other.

This is a strange one.  What happens if you cd away from the red5 directory; does it stop as well?

if i just hit the enter key even the thing closes connection.. its just setting there showing me the incoming connection request and them being approved.. if i hit enter im back at the directory so i always assumed it was just running like it was suppose to ,, but nope, it closes it ... is there a way for me to tell red5 to run and not allow me to have to watch it run?

Is this the Boonex RMS or Red5?

for the RMS, boonex doc; http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/RayMediaServerInstallation says you can set it up to run as a service.  I wonder if an init can be created to start stop and restart RMS?

Cancel the execution of red5.sh or start.exe and run RMS as a service (background application). You can do it by:

UNIX:

./run_daemon.sh

You can now execute the following command on UNIX-based OS to make sure that RMS has started:

ps ax | grep red5

I rewrote the script they had for you....   they copied and pasted from a website and the code they used was for ubuntu servers.

you can now use this format to start stop restart and get status of of red5.

/etc/init.d/red5 start

/etc/init.d/red5 stop

/etc/init.d/red5 restart

/etc/init.d/red5 status

I have red5 running at the moment and closed SSH.

Just a couple small little bugs left to sort now,, I can actually restart the server and close the window and all runs fine and smooth like it is suppose to.

But now the server is dropping connection at certain specific times of the day.. drops at 8pm central on the dot, right before 12:30 am central ... and one after 8AM ... everyday .. so I know there is something that goes on at those times that causes the red5 to drop what are my options, I seen josh say something about a auto restart script,, will this work in this case or should i look into the crons and see whats going on that can be changed?

I am trying to locate the script I had for this. I had the script made specially for me at the time and it certainly worked ... it was like a dream come true as I was having serious connection nightmares and it was stopping left right and center ... the script put an end to all that !

Basically whenever Red5 stopped the script would pick up on it and restart the service without anyone ever realizing red5 had stopped.

I will post back here when I found it! I am also emailing the guy that created it for me although it has been a few years now ...

I seen josh say something about a auto restart script,, will this work
