Rayz Chat & RMS Problems

Hi

I've just installed RMS server on my VPS hosting.

I have the server running provided i use red5.sh and leave the terminal window open.

run_daemon.sh does nothing at all. no errors. just does not start the service.

I can connect to the RMS server via the admin panel, but the issue I'm having is that it only allows one connection. Anyone else attempting to enter chat gets stuck at the 'connecting' stage.

Has anyone else experience this? If so, did u manage to solve it?

I'm using Dolphin 7.0.9

Thanks

ok i fixed the run_daemon.sh issue.

i'm seriously needing help with the user connections, if anyone can assist.

at the moment it only allows me to connect and enter the chat room. noone else.

does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem, or what i might look at to solve it?

cheers

Hello

The default RMS server and A/V Chat don't have any limitions of members who can connect. Are you sure you didn't do any custom modifications for RMS and/or Flash Apps?

thanks very much for your reply

i've changed nothing at all.

i found the installation instructions to be confusing. this part in particular:

Now (both UNIX and WINDOWS) find and replace the following line:

webapp.virtualHosts=0.0.0.0

with

webapp.virtualHosts=10.10.10.10

You should consult with your hosting provider about your IP address or use "ping your_domain_name" command where "your_domain_name" stands for your real domain name.

is that saying to use 10.10.10.10? or my server's ip address? and would that have anything to do with the connection problem, as i've set it to my server's ip address.

other than that, i edited the red5.sh and run_daemon.sh as instructed, and it runs fine. flash apps can connect no problem, and i can get into chat with no problems. unfortunately noone else can.

all the suggested ports have been opened to allow connections from anywhere.

i'm really at a loss for things to try.

cheers

Hello

Yes, you need to replace 0.0.0.0 with your server IP address. 10.10.10.10 is just an example.

If you provide me with SSH access info and 2 test Dolphin accounts (admin and member)  I would be able to check it. You may send the info via internal mailbox.

ok i'm getting desperate here. over 2 weeks and still not one solution offered for this problem.

boonex don't seem to want to know about it (i've opened a ticket but no response).

does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? i really don't want to have to rebuild my entire site using a different platform, but at this point i see no other alternative.

cheers

I'm just chiming in here because I know the frustration with this stuff sometimes.

First off, I've never had this problem but that doesn't mean it might not happen in the future. I've installed RMS on Windows and Linux.

Secondly, have you tried testing out your Dolphin install against a fully functioning RMS service to isolate the problem?

thanks to all who responded in this thread.

it ended up being a hosting provider issue. they told me they had opened the relevant ports for all connections when, in fact, they had not.

it was only after i proved to them that it was an ip address issue that they went back and checked.

thanks again
