Question for Tracking purposes - Referrals to site

I have created a question that is asked of members joining the site.

I have tested it and it does show up when members are joining , however when I go to approve their profile, the question and answer are not showing up at all.

What I am trying to do , is track where my new members are coming from so I know what method of marketing is working best.

You may need to activate the profile field item for some of the other places in the profile fields builder, such as profiles (do this only for the admin section if you don't want that information to be visible to all).

I had this done, but still it doesnt show up.

Magnussoft, wouldn't this be an SQL thing?

I'm assuming he made a profile field and only added it to the join form, but if that's not what he did then I'm clueless as to what's going on here.

Ok Im totally lost on all of this so maybe it would be better for me to start over and get the instructions on what to do to accomplish the goal I have .

What I did was created a field on the Join form. (under the column of misc. info )

Then I dropped the field into the admin controls column under "view profile" tab in the same panel .

The Radio button on the top left is selected as admin.

ALL are in the " active blocks" section of the options.

Do I need to do something other then this?

Be sure that the relevant member you are looking at have answered your question, otherwise you will not see anything

I had problems getting this to show by manually added the new item to the profiles fields under the admin and member in "Fields Builder"

I did do a work around if your willing to give up one of the many available fields to use as this referral question. I changed the "Hobbies" Item to the question I was looking for, "How did you hear about our site"

I just tried this myself and it's working without issue for me.

1. Create a new field entry and make it mandatory on the join page through the profile fields builder.
2. Switch to admin view for the viewing profiles page in the builder and drag the field entry to the active list.

I'm then able to view through the info page of the profile the entered information without issue.

One possible issue for it not displaying is that you didn't set it to mandatory, which means users can choose to not enter anything, in which case nothing would display.

OK your right Magnussoft, for some reason in Firefox when I created these boxes and tried to "drag" them where I wanted the would not budge..hmm

Went to Google Chrome and they are "Drag-gable" now, very weird...

It seems to be a bug of some sort that has manage to survive through a few versions. Refreshing the page allows you to drag the newly created item to most areas.

I had it set to mandatory as well.

I am going to just restart maybe somewhere I missed something and just am not seeing it.
