Profile Tags - Whats the deal???

Never looked at using these before so not noticed much about them. Just looking now and can't make any sense of them!

Clean install of 7.1.4

Profile Editor have enabled 'tags' block in all views, yet it seems to be a half finished 'module'...

There is no lang key by default for profile tags on profile editor.

The tags block on profile does not show either when viewing the page, or editing profile...

Enabling the tags block on homepage will display tags from all modules except profiles...

There is a tags.php page but by default there is no link to it in menu builder...

Is this a something Boonex have half deleted at some point???

Was hoping to use it as a key function with profiles on my site but its currently useless.

Not sure exactly what your expecting.

1) Tags cannot be translated. Never could be. No tags, not photos, videos, profile, nothing. So i do not understand why you would expect it to be.

2) The tags block on profile does not show either when viewing the page, or editing profile...
That i also do not understand. There is no tags block on the profile page.

3) The tags block on the home page will only show profile tags if profile tags have been entered. By default the tags field builder item is not on the join form or the profile edit form. So you would need to go to the profile editor and drag it into the join form and into the profile edit page for both owner and admin. Then once people start entering tags, then they will show up on the home page block.

I meant the actual lang keys for the 'tags' box on profile page either when editing or joining. The keys for this are just not made! Easy enough to do but it seems a little half finished... I didn't mean the user created tags, just the system keys.

Was hoping there would be one in the system as you attach tags to a profile...

Shame this block cannot be copied into the browse members page... profile tags cloud would be a very useful way to search/browse users...

Could do with an upgraded 'profile tags' module... would open up a lot of options for dating type sites and social based sites..

Ideally to include

Profile tag cloud on browse members page.

Profile tag block on profile page.

Just these two functions would open up a number of interesting ways to use tags...

Oh. Well that happens with any profile field that is not on the forms by default. Many of those are missing. Not just the tags.

Deano, do you know a way to copy the recent tags block thats on the tags.php page across to members.php?

Shows as red on your block tools module.

Nope i don't. If it's red it means it's not a PHP block which also means it's designed specifically for that page. Copying it will require the addition of any code it requires from that page. Most likely not easy to do.
