Problems with my Forum

I initially had problems installing my Forum. I found that I didn't have the XSLT extension enabled. I enabled it in my PHP config on my server & all installed okay. A week or two later & my Forum has suddenly stopped working (or should I say displaying correctly). Instead of displaying correctly in the template when I go to the Forum page I get a full page of code beginning with the html header.

I tried switching template to another to see if it was a template problem & that didn't fix it. When I removed the breadcrumb path to my page after I was given the code a few days ago I wasn't sure if I had accidentally messed it up then. So I completely replaced the templates/base directory again with the default copy. This didn't affect the breadcrumb problem of the other day as I had implemented another option someone else gave me. It also didn't fix my forum problem.

As a last resort, I tried to uninstall & reinstall the forum. Now it won't reinstall. I receive the same XSLT extension error message I initially got when originally installing it. I checked the PHP settings, disabled & re-enabled the extension & tried again & still I get the same error.

Has anyone come across this problem before & if so how was it fixed? Thanks guys.

Is this a shared, vps or dedicated machine ?

If shared, they may be globally disabling XSLT on you.

If it's a vps or dedicated machine you may have a php.ini file in there some place messing with things.

If you need a hand with it or another set of eyes let me know and i can take a look at it for you.

Yeah it's on a shared temporarily. The site isn't live yet, on completion I will be migrating to a dedicated server but just trying to keep costs down whilst obtaining the licenses & modules I need. I have reported to the server support but they told me to disable & re-enable the XSLT extension....like I didn't think to do that first before contacting them, lol! I've reported back to them confirming I had already tried that & waiting on a reply. I was curious to know if anyone else had experienced this problem in case it wasn't a server problem. Thanks for your help.

Host recompiled PHP but site didn't work as reverted to safe mode on. They had renamed a php.ini file to php.ini_ which affected it all. I noticed it & renamed it again & all worked okay. Installed the forum & it reported it was successfully installed. Now when I click on the forum link it takes me off site redirecting. I believe my problem to be my .htaccess file. I have no rewite rules for the forum & I know I should have. How do I get all that back?
