Okay i'm getting annoyed with the whole privacy concept. I hope there is a way to fix this.
Suppose Tom wants only friends to see his profile. He changes it to "Friends" in his profile edit page. 
Then Jen comes to his profile and curious if she knows him but she can't see anything at all. She sees this…
There is no action block and she can't email him saying "Hi, are you the same John I know?" or request a friend.
Is there a way to keep the action block there no matter what? Any ideas?

the only way is to remove all block from Profile View, and then make wall, photos, ect private and leave actions to public. That way when they find that person they will jsut see their profile pic adn actions and nothing else. IF you leave the profile view tabs in there they can easliy click on wall and see their wall, so make sure you edit teh profile view in teh admin section. |

Are you saying I need to go to Admin Panel => Page Blocks => Profile? |
If you make your profile private for friends only via Account settings than you will always see account denied for non friends. There is no fix for this. Maybe they will realize it's a horrible design and fix this in 7.0.4. Now if you keep your profile public in account settings and go to your profile and click the key in each section like wall, groups, photos ect. And select friends only but keep the actions section public it will work. When a non friend sees your page they will see your pic and actions menu. Now when you view a profile you will see tabs under profile view. If you have a wall tab or photos tab a non friend can click that regardless if your stuff is private or friends only and see it all. To fix this go into admin section, builders, navigation and look for profile view tab. Under that main tab is all the items shown when viewing sometimes profile. Take all those away and when your stuff it private a non friend can't access anything but your actions menu. |
hmmm true... I can remove that and just let them change the privacy level for each block instead. I didn't think of that. Okay, that will work for now. Thanks! :D |
