Privacy Issue

This is very strange indeed. Firstly I really think ALL defaults of Privacy Options should be set to 'Me Only' or 'Members'. For all of them to be set to 'Public' is questionable to say the least.

1. Here is my bigger concern. I go into profile and I clicked on the "key" on the top left of every box, set it to 'members only'.

2. When I go into Profile-Info page, I checked the 'Key' and is set to 'Public', so I have to do it all over again.

3. I then go into Profile-Edit and it has a Box that reads 'Profile Privacy" - I had it originally set to "Members" and YET I had to do Steps 1 and 2 above.

I finally went to my admin and completely removed the 'Public' option for now until I figure out or understand this whole Privacy Issue.

Could someone kindly shed some light on this matter. I do want certain parts of the site to be for 'Public viewing', but if my members have to go to 3 pages and numerous boxes to set the Viewing Options then I feel it would be a nuisance.

Bumping this up for attention

Well, I guess the best way to explain it is that you have mentioned 3 separate pages where you can set privacy levels at..

Edit Profile - Profile Privacy = Sets the whole profile page privacy for www.yoursite.com/MemberName

Gold Keys = Used to set 'what' to display on the profile page (link like above)

Profile_Info =   A different page that contains just your general & additional info (if any)

So if you set your Profile Privacy to just 'Friends Only', but yet do not want your friends to see your 'General Info', then yes you could actually narrow it down that far.. Talk about advanced privacy huh...

Nothing to see here

So let me understand this.

1. At the Profile-Edit Page; if I set it to 'Members only' setting then only members of the site can view the profile-correct?

Despite what shows on the Profile-Info and the Profile page, the item 1. above will supersede the setting on this page? (page where the golden keys are?)
