It is similar to Auto-activate profiles after joining where if that one is unchecked the admin has to manually approve the profile when a new account is created.

Well when the option is Preserve profile status after profile info editing is unchecked, the profile is deactivated so the admin has to re-approve it and activate it. If it's checked it stays as is. Used to force edited profiles to be deactivated until the admin checks out the changes that were made to the profile.

The option is a pain. I leave mine checked. As a admin i don't have time to sit there all day and re-approve profiles every time someone decides to edit it.
