Please help me fix my welcome msg prob

I've been trying to figure out a critical problem with my site. My new members do not receive a welcome email.

This is a big problem because my new members are never informed with what the benefits of the site are or how to use the site.

Currently, my site sends 2 copies of the email confirmation at the same time & no version of change in profile status, which is the welcome email.

I have had the site set up originally where I approve & manually change profile. I recently changed it to auto accept now that I use deanos spam block mod. The email has not been sent under either methods.

I have my server reset but host. They checked log & did not see any emails sent with the subject that matches the profile change email.

Any help would be appreciated. Direct me to where else to look or another method to automatically send the welcome email.

thank you

deanos spam block mod

You should direct your question to Deano perhaps.

Why?

It has nothing to do with the mod. The problem existed before the mod was installed per this part of his message.

The email has not been sent under either methods.

I also can't reproduce on any of the sites i am running this mod on.

I have no clue. Last time i saw a problem similar was with a site that had many languages installed, but missing email templates for some of those languages and the default was missing as well. But that only caused messages with blank titles and such. They were still sent.

Def not the mods fault.

I only have English installed.

is there anyway to manually  force out those automatic messages. At least that would let me know that the template was working. Maybe that would offer some type of trail that I could trace.

Check in admin->Settings->Advanced settings->moderation. Is the option for Enable notification about new members: turned on?

a clue.....
I just took my own account and switched the edit profile section to promotional. I was sent the email template called membership change.

Maybe Im doing something wrong or expecting something to happen that doesnt happen.
With the following settings should the Profile activation notification email go out automatically without me doing anything?

Here is my moderation settings:

Auto-activate profiles after joining:

Preserve profile status after profile info editing:

Auto-confirm profile without confirmation email:

Enable notification about new members:

Enable albums auto-approval:

Here is my membership settings:

MEMBERSHIPS
Levels · Add Level · Settings

Notify members about membership expiration only once (every day otherwise):

Number of days before membership expiration to notify members (-1 = after expiration):

Enable promotional membership:

Number of days for promotional membership:

Take a screenshot and post it.

You had it posted but deleted it.

Anyhow. This is how it works.

The welcome message is actually called Profile activation notification. That email is sent when a profile becomes active. So if the setting to auto activate is on, they will get that message right away, if not then they will not get it until you activate the profile.

If auto confirm is off then members are sent the Email confirmation message.

With your settings of Auto Activate off and Auto Confirm off what will happen is this.

1) New member signs up.
2) Member is sent Email confirmation message
3) Admin is sent Admin notification about new member

If Member confirms email then admin will receive Admin notification - user confirmed email

You as admin will then have to activate the profile. When you do then member will get the Profile activation notification. If you change their membership then member will get Membership change notification.

The screen shot you posted showed a active profile which should not have been active with the settings the way they were.

Thanks for the help. I deleted the screenshot because I got it working right after I posted it. I started selecting different boxes & testing. It was like you posted. I was going to remove the screenshot & post a msg that it was working but got side tracked. How ca you tell when i del a msg?

thanks for the help everyone.
