Please help. How do I move a dolphin from a folder inside root

Hello everyone,

I need some help or direction on how to move my dophin ( in a folder name "community") under the root directory up one level ( another word, after I did the moved, the dolphin files and folders should be inside my root, not as currently in folder called "community".

right now i have to go here to access http://guitarelements.com/community

If i go here http://guitarelements.com it is showing my original site, I want to put it into dolphin script ver 7.0.4

i like it as http://guitarelements.com - to show dolphin script instead of my 2003 guitarelements.com homepage.

I hope you understand my English and what i am asking.

Thank you

You need to edit your "root " path in this file.   /inc/header.inc.php

Give me something to believe in...

Expanding upon what was previously said, you'll need to move all of Dolphin's files and directories to /public_html/ (or whatever your web root is on the server).  If there is a current script or site there, you should move it into another directory, like /old/. Once you've finished moving your site, you'll need to change the address and path information in the /inc/header.inc.php file and clear your /cache/ (except for the .htaccess file) and /cache_public/ directories.

Hello

I am going to do the move today and I am worrie and nourvous.

i have another question for database

currently it is

User: guitar_dbase
Database: guitar_community
pass xxxxxxx

What do I have to do? how do I move or rename the database name or can i just leave it alone as currently.

thank you.

Quote · 9 Feb 2011

Yes you can leave that untouched, unless you want to change where the dolphin points to the DB, but I do not think you need to do that, so just go onm do not mind that.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi Everyone have been involed helping me on this issue.

I did the move and leave the dbase setting alone. I move all current files and folders in public_html into a folder name "old".

I download Public_html/community the current dolphin files & folders to my PC

I then upload it to my server home public_html

Wow, I did not even get to edit "/inc/header.inc.php file" yet

I went to check guitarelements.com to see what is going on. WOW it load my dolphin script as it is from a folder previously.

Do I still need to edit  " /inc/header.inc.php file" to reflect the move up to the root of the server still?

AFter done upload I will go in and check the frontend and backend to make sure it works.

thank you

thank you

O.k I really need help now.

The site came up o.k but I can not login as admin. So i went to the original site (in sub folder called community) which I did not delete.  I then login as admin, it still working.

So I went to edit inc/header.inc.php (take out the community folder) I then clear caches, clear browser etc...

goto the site and this is what i get errors

It's a permission problem. I recommend you make sure all your files and directories have their permissions in line, as well as the cache directories cleared (except for the .htaccess file in /cache/).

In FTP   /cache/  and  /cache_public/   delete all in there.  Except the  .htaccess   file in there

It allowed me to login as Admin NOW. WOW.

it seems that your cache directory does not have permissions set to writable, needs to be set to 755 minimum or 777 depending on your servers config.

need to also check all directory permissions inc should be non-writable. if you moved everything as stated, then you should once you set the cache directory permissions need to change the path in two places on the header.inc file. there is no need to edit the database, because it should be in most cases set 'localhost'

I did the same as said here

We moved our boonex installation from a Editing folder to the root of our site.

We change header.inc.php so far so good we are still using the same DB.

But after uploading the saved edit folders content to the root we cant access our moduls like Photos, Boardsyou name it.

We tried chaning the Moduls folder to 777 but didnt bring a solution.

If you click on the i.e Photos you get a 404 error.

Quote · 15 Mar 2012

Make sure you still have an .htaccess in the base Dolphin folder.

Change your modules folder back to 755 and don't set anything else to 777!
