Please Test My Join Page

I don't understand.  My join page has not been working for days.  Whenever I enter my join information and click join, it refreshes to a blank white join page.

But my hosting company's support staff insist it is working fine.  They have tested it out and it worked multiple times.  However, it doesn't work for me.  I have tested it on multiple computers using all the different browsers.

Can somebody please test out if they are able to successfully join my site (this is no gimmick):

First of all, good looking site, love the use of a background image!

Tried joining using the form, and it just hangs on a white blank page...

update - I got the confirm e-mail, and was able to log in to the acount.  join page however is still hanging.

Thanks.  I really appreciate it.

I figured out something.  The hosting company support staff was registering their profiles from Canada (since they are located in Canada).

It seems you cannot join if you are from the US... I will try other countries now and see if they also can join.

Why in the world would this be?

He's right. The join page is actually working, it just doesn't give a confirmation message. Also, delete my account. It's no longer needed.

Edit: I had no problem registering from the United States.

Crazy...I tried joining using a few other countries and it worked each time.

However, members cannot join if they select the United States.

Hmmmm....I think my site is demonstrating blatant discrimination.

"Italian Stallion"

I was going to delete you anyhow ;-)

Yes, it does register you, but it does not take you to the avatar page with confirmation.

Instead it hangs on a blank white page ....only for Americans

You then have to return to the site and use your login info... however, most new members will simply think the process failed.

I joined and played around on your site trying to add things to the site and saw you have the ADDON for Like FaceBook mod.  I tried to use it and it was very touchy at best.  It would not upload a SINGLE photo.  Rejected several others I tried to post an event and it lagged quite a bit until it looked like the joining that is not pushing through to completion.  Hmmmmm It seems like something is causing it to not carry through with script command that upload information.......

Wow!  Thanks for that info.  I'm starting to think that Dolphin is not intended for communities bigger than 20 - 25 thousand.

I'm literally discovered a few new problems every day.

There are sites that have 4x that number of members and they are working fine. Dolphin is a starting point. If you believe anything less than that then you will be disappointed.

Yeah, you're probably right.  I'm just really frustrated because I've had dozens of unexpected and unexplained things go wrong with my site over the past few weeks.  And now people can't even join my site (if they select United States).

It's amazing how two words can say so much.

You will just have to believe me and if you don't then don't worry I won't mind.

This is how i interpreted this.

Yes. There are. Sites like Facebook, Myspace, Ect.

Dolphin is a starting point. If you believe anything less than that then you will be disappointed.

Which means once you reach a large number of members, you switch to something other than dolphin.

Here's how I interpreted it.  Why mention sites running on some other platform, when Dolphin is what is being discussed?  Everybody knows there are sites with more than 20K members.   20K members may be a large number for a Dolphin site, but generally speaking, It's a pretty small number for a social networking site.  Four times that, is still a paltry number.  To think that Dolphin might be choking on a measly 20k member site is a bit scary.

If I were Boonex, I'd be all over this one.  I'd want to know the technical reasons for this happening.

I was joking.

But seriously i wish they would jump all over this. These questions are asked a lot and i have yet to see an answer as to how much dolphin can handle.

Yes, and I'm still waiting to hear back from my agent...

I had over 35,000 members on my last social networking script.

We (me and the person I hired) had difficulty migrating these members to Dolphin 7.

Things happened and the $ started adding up.  I decided to start brand new with 0 members

on Dolphin 7...I was already using this script for another site and I really liked it.

Well, a few months later and about 24,000 members later, I have nothing but problems.

I never had one problem with the other script.  I switched to Dolphin 7 because it had way more features,

I loved the unity forum, and I especially loved all the third party mods that I could buy for cheap... way cheaper

than having someone create these mods just for me.

But now I have a site that nobody from the United States can join (which is 2/3 of my membership).

This topic has inspired me: I'm going to start my own social networking web site with Dolphin.

We support several sites with more than 20,000 users running Dolphin...  one has ~650,000 and grows by 1000 members a day... but all currently run aeDating 4.1.4, or Dolphin 5.6.5 / 6.1.6 - as due to the large number of modifications, it is not worth it at this time, to upgrade/recode for Dolphin 7.x

The ~650k user site runs mySQL servers with 96GB of RAM (and most tables have been converted to INNODB).  The RAM helps with the 100 million messages table, 90 million profiles_track table, and so on.

And no, sorry, you need to just believe me (or not believe me, if you want), as I can't give out URLs due to implied and implicit NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreements).

We (ModMySite/MySiteGroup) is starting a Dolphin 7 project (including a free public SVN repository), to look into the possibility of upgrading some of these sites to Dolphin 7 - more will come on this in the upcoming week or two.  The first order of business with that is looking into the "idle but high load" issue, and slow page loads in Dolphin 7.  You can look into this too if you want;  you can enable and check your mysql slow-log, or, use our preferred utility - MONyog ( http://www.webyog.com ) - on your server.
