Photos/Video anf file question

Is there a way to control the size and qty of file uploads per member?

Or can they go crazy and upload their whole wedding video or backup their entire hard drive on my site?

You can control the amount of uploads allowed per hour by changing the video uploading related permissions under Administration > Settings > Membership Levels > [Level]. If you click on a permission, a window will appear giving you more options to control.

You can't control the upload size from within the site. You can change PHP's max allowed filesize for uploads though by changing the following:

  • upload_max_filsize
  • post_max_size

You'll have to create a file called php.ini with the following:

[PHP]

upload_max_filesize=128M
post_max_size=138M

You can change the two numbers to whatever you like (note that it's in MB). The post_max_size value should always be a little higher than the other. Place this file in the root directory of your installation.

I should also add that this may not work depending on your server's configuration.

In the admin settings of controlling how often to upload, can you explain the 4 options and what they mean as regards o time, days, what are the units used?

Thanks

The last two options (available to/from) can be ignored entirely. As for how the time works, I believe it's done by hours.

So you think the first option is the number of uploads for the period of time in the second option.

For instance 1 in the first box and 24 in the next means 1 upload in 24 hours?

The number of actions is just that: the number of actions allowed. It can be one, two, three, or even twenty. Once a user reaches the set limit for the time period, they'll have to wait. The second options for the time period is in hours, which means twenty-four hours limits the actions to reset after a day.
