Photo upload...

OK I am taking IPhone photos and uploading them through the browser on the phone and also using the mobile app.  When I do that apparently the exif is getting stripped.  If I plug in the phone to the computer and then upload the picture from the computer the exif data is intact.

I need the ability to take a picture with the phone and upload it direclty to the site by both the app and the browser from the phone and keep the exif data intact any ideas on why it is getting striped but better yet how to stop it?  This is using the exif mod that shows the location of the picture as well with a map.  I can't understand how with a direct picture taken by the phone how the exif data is not intact...  It makes no sense to me what so ever.  It is the entire idea of being mobile what is the purpose to have to jump through hoops to keep the exif data intact... I could really care less about the other data beyond the geo locations of the picture itself.

Give more detail information.  Your phone/mobile devices versions, browser versions, Boonex app version, etc.  Have you tried taking photos in both the normal, landscape mode, and in portrait mode when uploading.  Normal camera orientation before they started including cameras on phones (which to me is one of the biggest mistakes ever made; but that is a rant for another day) is landscape mode, just pick up any camera, digital or film, and you will see this.  The reason I asked is perhaps software on the phone is changing the orientation before upload and thus stripping out the EXIF.  Or, there is concern about privacy (most of the photo sharing sites strip out at least the geolocation information) and thus maybe that is part of the problem you are seeing when uploading directly.

What is needed is a test site and some volunteers with mobile devices with and without the Boonex app to test and see.

I also noted that in the last post of my topic here. http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Check-orientation-of-uploaded-image-and-rotate-.htm

It does seem the phone itself is removing all that data prior to upload. I am also betting it's done for privacy reasons. Perhaps another example of big companies taking it upon themselves to decide whats best for us.
