Check the settings in the photo module.  Are photos set to auto-approval or does an admin need to approve them.  Do they show up in the photo module in admin?  Check for the waiting approval section as well.

another reason could be that the DB knows there should be photos there but the photos are not in files ... this would also give you same result

did they go missing as soon as upload OR where they missing after you make files changes etc ?

I wonder ......

have you checked permissions of folders where the media / photos whatever is stored ?

it maybe that it is uploading and writing to DB but the folders which would store the actual photos have wrong premissions

OK, as bizarre as this seems, I am having what I think is EXACTLY the same problem.

1) I log on with the affected member's credentials

2) I upload a photo

3) the photo does not show up

4) I log on as administrator

5) Click on the photos module. The Image is here.. check the imageishere uploaded.

6) Checking disapproval or even approval shows an empty result set.

Yet, this photo does not show in this member's profile.

the photo does not show up

Where does it not show up?  In their photo album?  Or in the Photos Home page?  Both?

Have you logged in and check the permission of the album?  All photos show up in the backend/admin but elsewhere viewing permission of the album comes into play.

I found also where another users profile photos are the same as the albums, but when you click on the albums, there is only the photo. and when I log in from the admin console, I see she has several albums, they just are not visible.

Dolphin Jay and I figured out what happened...  the albums in sys_albums table not showing were somehow set to passive.

What I believe may have caused this... about a week ago, in the administrator photos module I unchecked Enable Auto-Activation For Files:  and Autoapprove Categories Of Files thinking I would have the option to approve albums when they were created.

After seeing a lot of photos uploaded, and no way to approve the photos or albums (if the album is set to Active in the database, the Approve Photo option works as expected on the dashboard) I rechecked both tick marks. Albums where then being created and photos being uploaded were visible.

The question we have is, where is the option to approve albums from the photos module?

Until this is fixed, do not uncheck  Enable Auto-Activation For Files or Autoapprove Categories Of Files.

To fix the problem you must go into the Sys_Album table  and make the album status active... clear cache, blah blah blah and your photos magically appear...

My apologies, did not mean to bail out on you; just got busy working on something else.

It appears there is no control over creating albums then, members are free to create albums at will without any moderation.  It is the photos that one must moderate.  It would be nice to be able to see members albums in the backend instead of all photos lumped together.  It makes it harder to moderate.

Glad to hear you have your issue resolved.

No worries Geek Girl I guess I should wonder then... unchecking Autoapprove Categories Of Files broke things? Categories being Photo Albums?

Is the wording wrong? Shouldn't this be Auto Approve of Photo Albums? and  Enable Auto-Activation For Files be auto activation of photos?

Then comes the real problem... there appears to be no way to approve a photo album unless you go into the database.

There's another problem with the photos :

If you moderate photos, like I do, you do need to go in the backend, view the image, check the accompanying text is OK too, then click Enable, and all is fine.  Photo appears as expected.

But, user can then simply click EDIT and add any old text he/she wants.  That can lead to all sorts of bad situations, even copyright issues.

Since the site admin chooses to moderate photos, then admin should be alerted when an edit is made even if its just to the text.  So, how can I get EDITED photos to go back into the moderation line.

The store module does this.  When an item is EDITED after it was approved by a mod, then that item is placed on hold waiting for a moderator to review it again before it is published on the site.

Any ideas?
