Parse URLs to clickable links in Timeline

Has anyone figured this out yet? The last post I saw was June 28th, 2013 and there was no answer. It (is to me) seems really important for people to be able to put clickable links while writing a post to their timeline. Can someone come up with a module for this? Please?

Really? You may want to think that one over very carefully.

Not sure of your age or if you were on MySpace back when it was king and facebook was not open to the general public. I was. They had a nightmare situation allowing people to put links where ever they wanted.

Do you really want your site filled with all kind of links to some of the most disgusting scat sites on the internet?

There is a reason why most html is filtered out.

I don't know how to do it. Just wanted to give you something to think about before you decide to open up a big can of worms.

Hi Deano, I understand your point very clearly. However, I am not dealing with a young crowd of users. I'm just thinking about how FB allows users to link to external site or even within their platform from posting within the users timeline.

I do need to be able to have this functionality.

It will involve editing the timeline code and maybe making changes to the htmlpurifier; I am not sure because I have not looked into this.  I don't do as much code poking for requests lately because I don't have the time.  I am pausing from doing code work now to get a break before going back to it.  Plus I think it is time for another cup of coffee.

MySpace is still there.  It has changed a bit and if you visit the home page you will see this horrible horizontal scroll that is very wide.
