PHP Runner

Has anybody done any work with PHP Runner aka phprunner?

I have been using for years and would like to see if some of my projects could integrate, easily or not... .

@helen - I believe the site you are looking for is eHarmony.com. This is not a dating site. Thanks. I have removed this content and hidden another post under this name. Another instance will get this username banned.

@GG - Either this account has been hacked or it has taken 4 years to think of the best 'come on line' to post.

Strange; either they have been sleeping for a long time, or the account was hijacked some way?

Sorry to have taken over your post but I figured you weren't referring to the 'other' PHP (Personal Hitting-on Procedures).. haha

Deano is one of the best in PHP (not the one above) here at BoonEx so hopefully he will chime in here soon.

I went to look to see what PHP Runner is; is it something like Cold Fusion for PHP?

Geek Girl- not sure what cold fusion is... :)

But, PHP Runner is a PHP IDE from which you can write VERY robust applications very quickly and then, you can go and insert snippets of code for special functions.

I have been using the product for years and the product just gets better by the year... :) I have contemplated writing my own dating script and may at some point.  Maybe I will generate a quick demo and send you a link via private message... :)

They have a store now too, where you can sell modules... however to really modify them you would need PHPRunner...

Yes, that is what Cold Fusion is, a web IDE.  Drop in this and that and build a website with database connectivity.  PHP Runner sounds very interesting.

Some may, some may not.

You have to think of it as being a separate application. It has it own database routines, may even have it's own javascript library. Every thing that it includes increases the chances of interference with what dolphin does and also increases the level of difficulty in integrating it.

It would be like integrating any 3'rd party script into dolphin. They all require some rewriting to make them work so they do not interfere with each other.

It's the same reason you don't really find many 3'rd party scripts like forums integrated. It's just not very easy to do.

Deano-Thanks for your advice. The reality is Dolphin 7.1.4 works pretty well. Prior to this version there were so many problems, I was ready to write my own from scratch.

What is missing however are good management tools. This product is now great for the members, but if you want to make money on this site, there are not very good analysis tools available.

So, rather than start over, I think I will use the PHP Runner tool to write the back end functions for reports, accounting, etc.

An example of something I am working on. A cross tab report to show members joined by month for each year. You can see once, I started advertising this month, membership started picking up. These are the kinds of things you need to run a profitable business.

Now that the "infrastructure" is build with PHPRunner, its a simple manner to just start scaling the thing out. And permissions can be much more granular with the ability not only to view sections and tables, but read, edit add and delete functions as well.

I planned on writing my own replacement for dolphin as well. A builder type script very similar to dolphin, only much better of course.

But doing so is a huge project, and i had to give up that dream for now. Right now i have to put food on the table, so unless Bill Gates of some one else with deep pockets funds me, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Maybe after i retire i will have time.

Son of a .... I couldn't find a php application builder that I liked so I got hooked into Ironspeed. Built an entire application using C# and I absolutely hate it. After several months, I have a workable application but it's a horses ass and phat like a Microsoft based product would be.

Then along comes you guys and phprunner. Looks good enough that I might just trash Ironspeed altogether. I especially like the idea that I would no longer need to deal with building a windows based server...!!! HECK, I could build this php project and just run it from my existing Zarconia.net setup!

I know, a little off topic. Sorry but just had to vent. phprunner (as far as application builders go) looks like a really strong and well developed product.....

If you want to go the open source route, then start gathering a group of developers interested in the project.  Breaking it down into manageable pieces among many.

somehow there has to be controls when allowing others to write modules. If i write something it would be for SingleBooklovers.com. Btw, what is the hash method Boonex uses in their passwords?

its the only thing i could not easily work around with PHP Runner. last evening i connected to the database and started working on the back end features. i just created another password field as a work around ;)

In php dolphins password has is created like so.

sha1(md5($sPwd) . $sSalt);

$sPwd is the clear text password to be hashed and $sSalt is a random 8 character string.
