I am trying to get the Orca forum installed on a brand new install but whenever I go to the forums it tells me tha the forums don't exist. Everything went well according to the install message but they won't appear and the path that I'm given in the error doesn't point to any directory on my server.
"The requested URL /forum/ was not found on this server."

I had the same problem whenever I tried to install D7 into a subdirectory of the public_html folder. My work-around solution was to install the package in the root directory - that solved it. |
I was able to install into both sub directory and root with no problems. ManOfTeal.COM a Proud UNA site, six years running strong! |
I have the same problem.
I've installed ORCA Forum. However I can't see anywhere a button to post topics.
How do I manage my ORCA Forum? Something that I need to enable maybe after the installation?
Please help

log in as admin and go to Modules/Orca Forum
- Click on Manage Forum (to right)
- Click on New Groupe (to right) -> give it a name and save it
- On next page click on the folder icon and you will add a new forum (add text to Forum title, Forum description and choose Forum type, public or private)

Se how Boonex forum is build up...
Groupe: - BoonEx - Dolphin - Mobile - Archive
Bellow Boonex groupe you have this forum - BoonEx General - Pre-sale - Unity - Market - Blogs
etc...
hope it helps you get started

Thanks for you info.
But that is the problem:
Once I go on MODULES and I click on ORCA FORUMS it brings me directly to my forum homepage which is empty.
I mean there is no way I see a button where I can create forum groups.
Any suggestions?

hey.. try this if possible, but with a back up before taking any chance.. even i had problems with my ORCA forum..
but i got a fellow here who gave me the real solution on it..
just go in your admin panel, from there to settings -> advanced settings -> template.. here disable all the cahce options..
then simply clear your cache ones.. thats it.
hope it works... :)

Hi mahaveersingh
Thanks for your suggestion. I've just tried. It did not work !

Alex, after looking at the forums section on your site; notice it says "Profile not available for view" that is way wrong.
I joined the site and it still presents the same message. Your module(s) are not installed correctly it seems.
I sure someone here help you what further on what to do, I myself am not sure. Maybe remove it (forums module) and the others associated with it, and re install..? Anyone..

Hello Newton,
Indeed the Forum/Blogs modules are still not working.
I have deinstalled/reinstalled these modules (erasing all my events ) but it's still not working.
We even made a fresh new installation of D7 into a new server. Same problem.
This must be a known bug in the code as I know that some other people are having the same problem.
I just can't believe that nobody here has a clear answer on this issue.
Any suggestion? I don't want to give up on this project due this stupid issues!
Thanks!

I see Magnasoft, kudos, fixed the site! Looking great. Have a question, what mail mod are you using? ManOfTeal.COM a Proud UNA site, six years running strong! |

Same problem here. Have you got any fix on this one?
i got the same problem it was the .htaccess file in the main directory, and the rewrite mod was not enabled so the webserver cant forward to the right file...
|
Did anyone found a fix for this..? Please help. |
Ok, I made it working now. I am not sure if this will work for you, but let me list what I did.
1. Edit root .htaccess file and remove <IfModule..> tags.
2. Cleared template caches
3. As admin, created Forum Groups, all of them as public.
4. Under each forum group, created sub-topics buy clicking one of those buttons in the forum group listing.
5. Now logged in as normal user, click on sub-topic, then click on "New Topic", this creates your forum post.
Example: Health (Forum Group) -> Men Health (Sub-topic) -> "Grey Hair" is my topic.
My guess is that, I was not creating a Sub-Topic before. So whenever I clicked on Forum Group, "New Topic" link was not appearing.
Hope this helps.

You have a .htaccess file in the forum directory. Try adding this line to it, or modifying the existing line to read:
RewriteBase /forum
|
Check your error logs. There's probably a CHMOD problem. sup |
I have a clean install into a root directory but I get the same problems as listed above, namely:
The requested URL /myurl/modules/boonex/forum/index.php was not found on this server
This is the same for all the other modules installed. Surely there must be a workaround by now? Any help much appreciated (I have tried the various suggestions in this thread).
Many thx
