Orca Forum Dolphin 7.0.2 not working properly

Since installing Dolphin 7.0.2, I have not been able to get Orca Forum functioning properly.

There is 4 errors that continually come up.

1. "language files compilation has been failed" when trying to compile language as per installation manual.

2. "cannot create group" when trying to create a group.

3. "cannot create forum" when trying to create forum.

4. "cannot delete group or forum" when trying to delete.

I have seen that it is being reported by other Dolphin users as well... is this a bug that has been looked at and fixed for 7.0.3?

Or do we have to wait for 7.0.4 to get this is order?

Or is there a way of fixing this now myself?

Any help would be much appreciated...

regards,

Mandy

You might just want to wait for 7.0.3, which should be available in final release by October.  The entire Forum has been redesigned, and any work you do will be wasted since all its files will be replaced.  Then see if you still have the problem.  Don't think it's a bug.  It may be an install issue or conflict with another mod on your site.  I have 7.0.2 and it works fine

Someday, Someway.

I have tried so many different ways to resolve this issue... I have installed only orca mod to see if it was a conflict with other mods... no luck, still the errors appear.

I have tried different methods of installing the software from using the auto installer my host provides,..

manual install from uploading via ftp with file zilla,..

manual install from uploading the zip folder to the server and extracting the files on the server,..

my host has tried both auto install and manual install themselves... everything fails.

I've had AntonLV go into the server and check permissions and settings, he said everything was correct and couldn't explain what was wrong.

I'm at a lose of what to do, and maybe I should just wait for 7.0.3, but I find it strange that it is working for some and not others... and like you said, I thought maybe it was an install issue and that is why I tried every way I could think of installing it differently myself, as well as having my host install it for me, and even got someone to install it on to a completely different server that is hosted elsewhere... nothing works so far.

Has anyone who has had this problem found a way to resolve this?

Mandy

We find there is no forum at all, only the words forum with brackets surrounding it.  No ability to add a forum at all.

Here is another bug to add to the list with IE compatibility...

On the "Forums Home" page, the "Forum Posts" block on the left side of the page does not open showing any posts that have been created... this displays correctly in Google Chrome.

Can somebody from Boonex, Agents, or just anyone who is in the know, can you please let us know if these IE issues are part of the problems fixed in 7.0.3. or is this something previously unknown that needs to be fixed?

Mandy

For anyone else having these issues, I fixed one part of it by re-installing IE8, updating Flash Player to latest version and making sure that in my PC default settings, that Java was set properly and also checked the box that enables the program to be accessed.

What this fixed was obviously Java related... it fixed the left page block on the Forum Home Page opening and showing any posts.

It also fixed another issue I was having after uploading sounds with the Sounds Info Block not opening after uploading a sound.

It did not have any influence on the problem with Language Complilation errors etc... hopefully someone more knowlegeable than myself will help out with a solution.

It looks like there is some js error which prevent all javascript to work properly.

Also it maybe related to js cache - try to turn it off.

If you have any 3rd party mods which insert javascript to every page - try to disable it to see if it helps.

Thanks AlexT, I did try what you suggested, but no luck. I do not have any 3rd party mods... the only mods I have installed so far, is Orca, Photos, Sounds, Videos and Files... all Dolphin mods.

First I turned off JS cache and tested the forum... still got errors.

Next I uninstalled the Forum, cleared all cache, re-installed Forum, tried to compile language by click on the letters "en"... but no luck.

Still the error comes up "language compliation has been failed"... I'm certain that if this first set is sucessful, the other errors will not appear.

Do you have any other suggestions to try?

try these steps.

1. uninstall forum from admin panel.

2. delete all the files and folders in /modules/boonex/forum/

3. clear all chache from control panel.

4.upload the forum directory including all the files and folders to /boonex/modules/

then install the forum again from admin panel. and if you get any errors post them in here.

Thankyou, but this did not work for me... but what did work was installing 7.0.3. ... it works perfectly! Laughing Very happy.

Hi

I tried the "Upgrade Issues" as well but nothing. This was a fresh install of 7.0.3 and with the forum installed, it even shows up as just a blank page under admin so I can't even re-compile there. Both main site and under admin panel, the forum shows nothing but a blank page.
