Optimization for speed? Any tips and Tricks?

I'm just starting with dolphin, I purchased the 'recommended' mid-level hosting service from 'hostforweb' with unlimited everything and a dedicated IP.

To be honest I'm concerned about the load times, I would like to improve the 'load times' before I start marketing. Does anyone have any Optimization tips and tricks?

I really hope it's not a host problem, I can't afford to switch hosts at the moment, but if you have a great host let me know.

Other then that I'm sure someone is clued in on how to make the dolphin slip through the cyber sea a little more smoother?
