Old events still showing

Hello. I'm wondering how to setup events so that after the event date has passed it no longer shows on the outline page. Expired event still show even after setting Number Of Past Events To Show On Main Page to (0)

Yeah the hole events module is awkward to say the least. Old events still show on the 'world map' and on the creator member's profile. Is there no purge of old events? Do they stay forever?
