For now, the store module only allows one to sell downloadable products; it can not handle physical items.  The temporary solution until someone builds a better store module or revamps the current one with better functionality or properly integrates one of the many shopping cart applications on the net, is to add a dummy text file to the listing.  This will cause the "Add to Cart" button to appear.

Can you explain to a child like me exactly how to do that?

The Boonex Store module was designed as a downloadable products only, selling videos, pdfs, e-books, music, sound clips, etc.  So when one adds a physical item to the store to sell, they have to add the downloadable product as well; without the downloadable product, the store does not see an item to sell, thus no add to cart button will appear since there is no item for one to buy.  In order to sell a physical item, you still have to add the downloadable item; so what others have done is to add a text file for the person to download so the add to cart button will appear.  Since users will be using the payment gateway, the information on what they purchase will be passed along so once the payment is complete, then the person can ship the physical product out.

As GG mentioned. The store module in dolphin is designed for digital items. What that means is items that can be downloaded such as software, music files, ect. It was not designed for merchandise that is to be shipped or mailed which should be obvious as it does not provide any area to provide shipping or mailing address.

As such, a file has to be uploaded and a price set before the shopping cart button will show up.

Thanks.  Does the file download have to actually occur upon purchase?  Even if its a dummy file I wold envision that being a pain.

Maybe a mod or other open source solution would be better

No, the person does not have to download the file to complete the purchase.
