No add button or articles in 7.1 installation

I have a fairly clean install and have add buttons for articles, ads, etc...but there does not seem to be an add button on the articles page...I DID clear the cache, I also uninstalled Articles Module and reinstalled and same thing.

Articles are only added by admin and are added in the admin panel. Admin - Modules - Articles

Thought that...and did a test article...and even cleared cache and nothing posted. I am seeing same thing with news now that I became aware of this. I looked at the settings for these and did not see anything to turn on or off that might prevent a post.

I know for articles you have to click the 'Publish' button at the very bottom for it to display on your website. Same very similar to news.

Jeez...it is always the stupid stuff...I knew I had to publish but I need to learn to slow down...I did not see the tiny  warning on the tags...seems you cannot publish unless you have tag(s)

if you do not want tags, you should be able to remove it from the form - or make it not mandatory.
