Need Tutor For Dolphinn 7.1 Admin Panel

OK,  I will try this again....

I am willing to PAY money for someone that will teach me / tutor me (NOT do it for me) the aspects of using the Dolphin 7.1 Admin panel.  I have references on here, that I do INDEED pay!   If you need the reference, just ask me in a pm, I will give you his name. 

I currently need someone to help me with creating new pages & sub-pages in Dolphin.   But here's the deal, I want someone that can meet the following criteria!  If you don't or won't meet these criteria, please don't respond.  (Just wanna keep this post short as possible).

PLEASE BE ABLE/WILLING TO:

1.  Be INSIDE the US States. (For communication purposes)

2.  Be willing to communicate by good old fashioned telephone calls.

    (I will only call at set times pre-arranged and agreed upon by both of us)

3.  I do NOT Skype, won't Skype.  I don't learn anything like that and Text communications are too easily

        misunderstood thus creating frustration.

4.  I prefer someone walking me through the things I want to know while LIVE on the phone with me while I am doing it.

     That's just how I learn, I NEED and WANT to do it myself.

5.  If you need log-in credentials, that's NOT a problem, but I NEED a tutor/teacher that is capable and willing to

     communicate by phone during the learning process.  I can even occasionally text for quick questions, that's not a problem.

6.  Unfortunately, I can not use PayPal, I can however pay by Credit Card or by Money Order.  Again, I have references of  

      someone on here that I have paid, paying is NOT an issue.

I have work that needs started IMMEDIATELY, so if you are too busy to take on a new person, please do not contact me just so you can rack up the numbers. I need someone that actually has time to teach someone.  I currently need someone to help me with creating new pages & sub-pages in Dolphin.   If you could just find the time to walk me through it Step-By-Step 1-2 times, I know I will get it.

I do NOT want someone to do it for me, I NEED someone that will teach me how to do this for myself!

I tried that.  See my other post.   I get 15 people all trying to explain things about 10 different ways and because everyone explains things differently than the next person, no one can completely understand someone completely on here when the person doing the explaining is has NO clue what the "lingo" is for everything if their new!

I tried, everyone just suggests things that do NOT work!  Or, they have been doing this for so long, they unwittingly give "Short-cuts" in their instructions, thus leaving out crucial information and not giving FULL-DETAILED instructions in LAYMAN'S terms when trying to help.  

I even paid the last guy already, and all I can really get from him is him in a nutshell was him wanting to do it for me, then show me the "End Product" after he does it, then wonders why I'm not getting it!     I can look at the end product of a website all day long, but if I don't see how to actually do it, I will NEVER learn!  - NEVER!

Kinda like this...   How many roofs have you seen in your lifetime?   Think you could put one one without someone showing you "HOW" to do it ?

None the less,  I'll entertain your suggestion anyway, just so no one can say I didn't try.

Here's my problem,  I am trying to build new pages & sub pages. I read over the online tutorial, but as it is outdated, doesn't answer ALL of my questions.   What a lot of you more seasoned Vets on here don't seem to realize, is that Sure, it makes sense to you even though it's out dated, because you understand the process.  HOWEVER, to someone EXTREMELY new such as myself, if it's out dated and doesn't answer ALL of the questions, it just creates confusions galore!

This is what I am doing.

1.  I go to the page builder, create the new page

2.  Add the new HTML block name it as so (example).  "_example_page"

3.  Check the boxes for Guest & Member

4.  Add brief text in the WYSIWYG editor for reference

5.  Click Save

6. Then I go to Builders/Navigation Menu

7. Drag the "New Item" block up to the Main page header where I want the new sub page.

8. Enter into "System Name" :  'Example Page'

9. Enter into "Language Key" : ' _example_page'  (although I was told NEVER give it a full name & do it more like 'exam_pg'

10. Enter into the "Default Name" :   'Example Page'

11.  Enter into the "URL BOX" ;   'page/example_page'

12.  Check the box for "Quick Link"

13.  Target Window :  'Same'

14. Check Boxes for Both Guest & Member

15. Go to "Language Settings"   Enter 'example' & click "apply"

16. Enter into the "Key Name" :  ' _example_page'

17.  Enter into string text:   "Example Page"

18.  Click Save.

Go and look for my page...  NOTHING!   -  And that's exactly how I was told to do it too.  But it just does NOT work!

HAHA. I can understand your frustration. There multiple ways of doing the same thing so in the end its a matter of preference. Hang tight and I will try to show you how thats done

Thank you...  I await your response.  But an off topic question, and I am NOT trying to be a smart ass...  With all sincerity, what is it with everyone on here having such a phobia of phone communication?   Are you guys afraid of ear cancer or something?  I don't get it.   Once I learn this stuff I could be a millionaire in just a few short months just by getting a 800# and opening up a call center for FAQ's about this script!  - Especially because I would have ZERO competition as no one else is willing to speak on the phone on this site!  lmao!

It might help to keep one issue to one thread, and not ask a bunch of questions in the same one. There was already the "dog pile effect" in the first thread, and adding on more and more questions only creates more confusion and chaos.

That said, looking at your instructions for creating a page, I notice in the menu builder, you checked the Quick Link option. This doesn't create a menu item, but instead makes a button under the account page (in the quick links block). To have the menu item act as an actual item in the main navigation menu, simply untick that box and save. Does the page appear normally if the direct URL to it is entered?

Well, as intelligent as everyone is on here, I would assume they wouldn't get confused so easily.  My apologies!  I just figured that if I tried Brand new and started fresh I could get someone NEW to answer my questions.  Which it obviously worked, because that's what just happened.

I only checked the "Quick Link" option, because that's what the guy form the last thread did for the page he made on my website that DID work.  I figured if it worked, I was going to replicate the procedure hoping it would make mine work.   As I'm not getting much REAL help, I figured I would follow suit with what already seemed to be working.  I'm pretty much trouble shooting this on my own here.  I don't even know what the heck a "Quick Link" is!  I just seen it worked for him.

Apologies, the quick link option should still make the menu item appear in the main navigation menu, but also adds a button to the quick links block. Late night confusion (and a contributor to the madness from the last thread).

So, to be sure, you mean the menu item can't be found? Does it show up under the "More" menu on the site? When the menu gets too long, the rest of the entries are chucked under that menu item to keep things uncluttered.

Menu?   Yes it's found.  I see it, but the webpage says the "Page Can Not Be Found".   -  That's why I prefer phone communication. -  No apologies needed.  I'm just really frustrated right now.  I just paid another guy from the last thread $100 to help me and he's over there telling lies about me!  I'm VERY upset & frustrated right now

Ah, I see. From the above, I thought this was about the menu, and not the page itself. Does the page show up if you click the view page link in the page builder, like shown in Zarcon's nifty video?

OK...   See?  That's why there's confusion through written word!     Yes a "page" shows up..  But on that page it says "Page Can Not Be Found""

That can happen in random cases on YouTube. Try refreshing the page.

Edit: And does the direct link from the page builder show a "page can not be found" error? Or only the menu item?

No, there is NO error.  it is a page that shows up, looks just like my website, but where the name of the page should be in the page it just says  "Page Can Not Be Found"

 If you have the page created and a HTML box that has content in it, it should display. In the video, you will see where I click 'view page'. If you page is not displaying from the menu item you add, you have entered the wrong URL

Ok.. When all else fails, I will add it as an attachment for you.

Don't feel bad, I just bought an $800 computer a cpl of days ago, just crashed today!

It could be a codec problem. The YOuTube video should work fine though. So far I have had 4 people try it and only 1 (Kevin) had an issue. It did take Nathan refreshing the page to get it to play though :) understand that I JUST RECENTLY uploaded it. I wasnt kidding when I said I just created it.

IN your page url, you didn't put any underscores between words.  I was told I MUST do this

 Thats a negative ghostrider.. In the URI it is best to keep it all together. No spaces, underscores, periods, etc.

That is absolutely NOTHING like how I was taught to do it!   Not even close,  I was told I had to create language keys for the page and that I also had to but Underscores in the Language Key caption box in the navigation menu!  I was told it was best to put underscored between words for Google indexing!

Now is it the same procedure for Sub-pages?

Also, I noticed your navigation menu was pre-filled?  is this normal?  Why was it pre-filled?

When you see me adding things like 'Test Page', it is automatically adding the language keys for you during the page creation. No need to do it separately. I dont know about he Google Indexing stuff, but this is the way I have always done it and it works just fine.

Language keys are useful when a site is translated into multiple languages. It's also the "proper" way to do things, but isn't required for a site that only uses one language.

OK, so will it automatically create the language keys for all pages?  If not, then I need a tutorial for that too, otherwise this information is incomplete!

 Yes, its the same for sub-pages. The reason you saw mine filled out already is because I paused the record and typed it all in before I restarted the recording. I am not the fastest typing in the world and didnt need a 20 minutes video to show you how to create a page.

Why did the other guy complicate it so much with all of the language key settings and underscores and caps an what not?   This way is SO much easier, so much faster and works easier than milk and cookies!
