Need Help & Advice!

Hi all

We recently upgraded our dolphin and since then, some things on the site do not work anymore, for example:-

Forums  -  installs fine but we only see a blank page both in admin and frontend.
Videos  -  wont let us embed a video link from youtube anymore (also ALL thumbnails have dissapeared from the videos & albums).
Site Search  -  the search function on the top left side of the side only shows a blank page when suppossed to show results.
Profile Edit  -  when editing a profile, you click on save and nothing happens.  Does not save the updates you make.
Photos  -  ALL thumbnails have dissappeared from photos & albums.

Obviously we would really like these problems to be resolved, but we are completely unsure on how to fix them, so we are looking for any help and advice you can all give us.

Thank you in advance

Did you recompile apache or install an accelerator of some kind on the server ?

What version did you upgrade to / from  ?

The forums you need to make a template to match your site in /modules/boonex/forum/layout/   .....

Hi

Sorry for the late replies, we have been waiting for replies from our host to determine if it is a host issue, which they have assured us is not.  Some of the problems we were faced with have been resolved after we re-installed dolphin but we are still have problems with the following:-

Videos  -  wont let us embed a video link from youtube anymore (also ALL thumbnails have dissapeared from the videos & albums).
Profile Edit  -  when editing a profile, you click on save and nothing happens.  Does not save the updates you make.
Photos  -  ALL thumbnails have dissappeared from photos & albums.

These problems only appeared when we upgraded from 7.0 - 7.1.  Any help or ideas from any of you would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

7.0 to 7.1; that is a big jump; did you go from upgrade to upgrade to upgrade?

Also, did you back up the site and database first?

Could be any version. They are not specifying the build number so it could just as easily be 7.0.9 to 7.1.0 or any version in between.

Please be more specific with the version numbers you upgraded from and to.

If you open image directly:

http://www.ifyoubelieve.net/flash/modules/video/files/639_small.jpg

It says that profile view is restricted, which may mean that:

- the file is missing and default redirect to profile is triggered, check if file is in place

- something wrong in .htaccess file and instead of opening the file, redirect to profile is triggered, try to reupload .htaccess file from original package (save old version as well, especially you have modifications in it)

 I apologise.  Yes, we upgraded from 7.0.9 - 7.1.0.

When you say "try to reupload .htaccess file from original package", do you mean the .htaccess files from the 7.0.9 package or the 7.1.0 upgrade package?

The htaccess file from the version your currently running. So from the upgrade if it has one.

Also as for the other thing he wanted you to check. Make sure the file 639_small.jpg in the folder flash/modules/video/files/ exists.

.htaccess from the original version which match the version installed on your site in case of Apache webserver.

But I've checked your site and it look you have Nginx webserver, then you need different rewrite rules from here:

http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/TutorialHowToInstallDolphinOnNginx

Please check first if files are in place, it maybe that files are just missing.

When you say "try to reupload .htaccess file from original package", do you mean the .htaccess files from the 7.0.9 package or the 7.1.0 upgrade package?

Okay.  I have followed all of the advice and something worked because I now have all the thumbnails back for the photos, videos, sounds etc so I thank you all for the help you have given.  I really appreciate it.

However I am still unable to embed youtube videos or save a profile after I edit it (even in my own account, non admin).

I am sorry to continue to be a newbie :) but does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing the problem.

Thanks in advance.
