Mysterious characters being added after ADS posts

Hi Guys!

I was just checking my members ads but when I visited their ads, something is automatically added after the ad name. See something below in red circle:

Should this be a cause of concern? This just happened recently as I cannot remember seeing these text yesterday. Will these additional text hurt in search engine result? (e.g I searched for exact ad name in google and it won't show because of those extra characters) .

Please help!

I should add that the only thing I did an hour ago was add these social networking buttons from https://www.addthis.com

They give you this script that will enable you to display those "share" buttons. In my case, I added them in blogs and post. So my blog posts also displays those extra text.

Regards,
Sam

Sorry to disturb you. It was indeed caused by that AddThis.com tool. I disabled that "feature" so it should display fine now. However, I wonder if it will have any bearing in search engine results having those extra characters?

It's a hash. I am pretty sure it will not affect search results.

Facebook adds a hash also when it returns after facebook connect is used to connect.

Anyhow. They should not affect anything. They are part of the addthis analytics and can be disabled by shutting off address bar tracking. See this topic for additional info. http://support.addthis.com/customer/portal/questions/352733-how-to-remove-hash-from-url-

I found out that search engines will not be affected.

They will not affect your SEO because search engines discard URL fragments when indexing the web.

I guess I should have posted about this long ago. Thanks Deano, now I can start using that again.

It was screwing up the page "like's" from facebook, as each was different.
