LOL, phpbb is a stalwart as far as forums go. Everywhere you go, it's understood and that may be why it's so successful. It does not matter the content or where it's being used, anyone that comes there has seen the format before and knows how to navigate through it. The only time I would call it 'Yuck' ( or Buerk! in your case) would be because someone didn't take the time to create a look that was not the basic phpbb out of the box setup. You will NEVER find the functionality contained in a phpbb forum script if your trying to use ORCA to achieve the same or better result. ORCA (or 'The Fish Forum as I like to call it) has no real functionality outside of it's very basic, flat file design. http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
Actually. And you are right on a point. PHPBB is a very good forum for those who need it. It is a "gas plant" and too much complicated for an administrator The members want some sobriety and the simplicity. It is what makes Google, not ? Orca is a good forum, simple and effective. Our members do not want more. |
Yes, for simple forums, Orca is probably OK. To do what you want, separate forums in their own language; you will need to clone the forum script for each language; and set up each with its own language file. There is a module in the market that lists instructions for cloning modules for $5.00. I can not find it so maybe it was removed. Anyway, it is not going to be plug and play. Each forum needs its own table etc. I have no idea how much trouble it will be do it. Geeks, making the world a better place |
That will be fantastic for our website... I did not find this module. Have you a keyword or tag ?.... for test... |
Cloning the forum may be difficult; I don't see any posts where anyone has done so. Most sites that have a forum simply set up different boards in the same forum for different languages; I think that would be the best approach. Geeks, making the world a better place |
How many different languages? I use Google translate and keep a link up. Those outside my language can just convert the page. Works pretty well. http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
Cloning the forum will not be as easy as other mods. The forums are a hack of what was once a standalone product to make it into a module. It's a bit more complex. https://www.deanbassett.com |
