Moved site to different folder but still remembers

Hi guys, Sorry to bother... I just moved my site from a folder to the root (1 step up) and followed all the instructions given and cleaned the cache, etc... All seemed to be fine except that all pictures were not there (links broken), homepage. I said ok, easy to fix. But after signing up, the site is supposed to take me to my account page. I had File not found! Hmm? I typed administration and entered the admin site, not of the members links work, nor the menus, not the modules. All cannot be found.

I typed the folder in between those links and all is there. I had prepared my site with news, ads, photos, etc to go live. This is live now and not working.

Please, how can I get rid of all the traces of the old folder, so that the site becomes operational? I haven't slept in the last 36 hours to reach this point and I'm ready to roll my sleeves and keep going until this get resolved.

Please, I just need a little bit of help!

Thanks.

Jose

did you clear the cache BEFORE you moved your files. Manually remove all files from cache and cache_public directories, as well as clearing your browser cache.

Also, make sure you changed all places that need changes on the header.inc.php file (think there are 2)

Yup, I cleared the cache and did all the changes before opening the page. O closed down the browse, and reopen it and it still remember the old url with the folder in between. Cry

the only thing I can think of - and I know in your original post you said you made the proper changes, but what changes exactly did you make - give us a walk-through and hopefully we can give you a better answer. There should be 2 places in your header.inc.php file that you should have changed, but not knowing exactly what you did makes it hard to help you.

FYI - just closing the browser does not necessarily clear the cache. Try ctrl+shift+del, and uncheck everything except for cache, then clear history. This will clear your browser cache, and is more reliable than just using ctrl+F5, I have found.

Yeah, when I was ready to do the movement; I went ahead and cleaned up both cache folders. I then did the move, and when to /inc/header.inc.php and change $site['url'] and $dir['root']. It was a simple change of the last folder since I was gonna do the move to the root (the parent path of the url I was having).

But when I open the site, i saw the issues already mentioned.

I did looked at each table in the database and found a few instances of the old folder hardcoded in some records, for modules from modzzz and Deano. But still the issues persists. I'm checking now all the .htaccess to see if I can find something, but so far no luck.

Thank you guys. Site is up and running. Though the main issue was I moved the wrong .htaccess to the root (kudos to AndrewP for helping me out) there were also 7 instances of the old folder harcoded into database records for couple of modules (one from Deano and one from modzzz). I removed all traces of the old folders and all seems to be working great.

Thanks. Gotta go to sleep now.
