Hello,
I think I am pretty close to wrapping this up, but have a few closing questions that I would greatly appreciate answers to. Let me start off by giving a brief history of my installation..I have a VPS server with a Dolphin 6 installation. What I am doing is upgrading the software to Dolphin 7. So what I did was this, created a new installation in a subfolder in /public_html and created a new database. Now I installed the script and made all of my customizations. I think I am almost ready to now make it live! Before I do though I'd like to know the answers to these questions beforehand if possible. I am by no means an expert, so sometimes I have to seek them out...So here we go...
Q1:) To prevent from being dropped in Google, in the migration instructions it tells me to add information to my .htaccess file : instructions found here: http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/6.1.6to7.0 .....So if I am correct I add the .htaccess text in the post to the end of my current .htaccess and make the path for this setting..".RewriteBase /path-to-your-dolphin-url-folder/ " would translate to what exactly? Would I make it look like this " RewriteBase / "
or would it be " RewriteBase /public_html/.
Q2:) When I installed this new installation into the subfolder, the installation could not detect ANY of the "/usr/lib/" paths, it did show the paths that looked correct but still gave an erorr red text stating paths could not be found. I assumed it was maybe because I was installing into a subdirectory. When installing it did show it could not find the 4 paths but allowed me to continue with the installation normally. So my question is, now that I am ready to make this live in my root directory can anyone tell me where I can edit the configuration for these paths or should the default path work fine once in my root directory? And if you have a minute maybe explain what these paths are doing for my site on installation.
I greatly appreciate all of your time and apologize for the longwinded explanations/questions!
Happy New Year!
