Migrate a D7 site to D7

Hello!

Is there a way to migrate a Dolphin 7 site to another D7 site?

I want to import all users and sitecontent to a new site.

I was thinking of something that the "Data Migration" Module do with Dolphin 6 sites.

D.7.0.5 has the data migration included, but it will NOT set everything right, nor will it migrate some info and or photos/videos/ect... I have tried it from the beginning and have had to move some sql files manually and have seen some avatars and photos are moved to new site but wont show on site...So good luck!Cool

If both sites are with the same hosting company, they could easily do this for you.

the data migration module certainly does not do what you are stating here, as you are not wanting to migrate, you want to replicate.

basically you would zip up the file structure if you have SSH access the better method is to tar czvf the file structure, dump your sql database using phpmyadmin or CLI.

then transport the files (tar file) to the other site (domain, server....) untar the files edit the /inc/header.inc.php file to reflect the correct domain and paths, as well as creating the database and importing the sql dump from site- 1

You did say a 'New' site.  You failed to mention how many existing members the 'New' site has.

there is certainly a different approach from 'new site' to existing site.

the members id would need to be modified, thus, all memberID data any images, videos, audio, posts.... would all have to be modified from their identifier perspective. because the overall of the dynamics of the dolphin platform or any other CMS for that matter, first assigns a memberID, then all related content from that memberID is associated with the memberID.

if you have an existing dolphin site that you wish to import your site1 from, then you have to do the editing so that the memberID and id_key, otherwise, you end up with database errors. additionally you have to modify the id of all of the content from site1 to its newly formed associated ID. so yes it can be done, is it worth it, depends on the actual necessity you have with such a merge.
