Membership settings ? for who? you? Me? them?

I am having a hard time figuring out some of these settings.  I am not sure if some of these setting refer site wide or just to their profile.

forum private posts - is this for just them or will they see every private posts?

files edit - will they be able to edit files site wide or just their own?

groups broadcast message - again is it defaulted to let the own send message to all group or do I need to enable this in membership?

basically any of the edit actions, do these refer to own of files or site wide?  any help is appreciated since I couldnt find a boonex explanation for these which should be there to let you better understand.

Most of them will say "own" at the end if it's just theirs. Like "comments edit own" will just let them edit their own comments. "Forum private post" will allow them to post in a private forum. "Forum private read" will let them read anything in a private forum. 

If it doesn't have "own" at the end it normally means everyones.
