Hi,
The one thing that I think dolphin is really failing is up-selling. Yes, there are different subscriptions that can offer more features, BUT if a member with a standard membership never upgrades they don't know what they are missing... why? Because if a membership isn't allowed to perform the action... it's actually not even visible. I think this is a HUGE pitfall which can really just take a simple change to capitalize on.
The biggest features that can benefit from this are comments and mail. Mail kinda half works that way now as there is a "Message" button that is always visible, but only displays a simple message that you are not allowed to perform this action (I'ved added a note to click here to upgrade). Ideally, it should be directed right to the membership page.
Now comments are a little different but I think the more important one. If you do not have the permission to post comments, there is NEVER a comment box visible for a standard user to try and comment. There SHOULD be so A) they know they are missing something and B) when they do try and comment they are directed again to the membership upgrade page.
Simple messenger is another one. While I hate turning it completely off as it's a huge draw to Instant Message. So, while you should be able to see your friends online... if a standard user tries to send a message, again they should be directed to the upgrade page... etc...
Basically, it would be nice to make it easier to market to your user's that there are upgrades they can get to improve their experience.
I hope someone gets my point, preferably someone from Boonex to put these into play. It would be a huge improvement and would attract more buyers and also improve our ROI on this product. But... if some savy developer was to come up with a mod to do this... I'd certainly be buying it.
