I was wondering why the membership purchase is sent to a cart. What would be the need/reason/argument/whatever for having the ability to purchase multiple memberships at once. to me it does not make sense, because you can not have multiple memberships activated at the same time. But, I am not a genius, nor do I know it all, so trying to get an understanding. caredesign.net |
What else would you call it? Cart is just a name given to items queued up for purchase.... even if it's only one item. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
to me - it does not make sense to que a membership purchase. Why not just a simple click to purchase the membership type you want and redirected to appropriate payment processor. For our first site, I bypassed the default membership purchasing and it was easy and fast to purchase the membership. The way it is by default, means extra clicks for the user, and confusion. caredesign.net |
Yes, the membership in a cart thing does not make sense and has caused issues with my members. One member ended up with three memberships in their cart which I deleted myself.
If I go into a shop to pick up a single item, I don't get a trolley to push around because I don't need it. The same holds true for memberships. Professor, I would welcome a simple click and purchase for memberships because I think that would be an improvement.
Geeks, making the world a better place |
Thats what i was thinking. I assume boonex did it to use the default payment module for transaction but as an end user perspective its pretty indirect. so much to do.... |
The only thing I can see right now that would make the cart for memberships useful, is if the site has multiple payment processors. It seems the cart is the only place that the user can decide which payment processor they want to use.
For the time being, I have made a small adjustment to my site. See images below.
