Mass Mailer

Hi all

Where do you go to see what mail has been sent out by the Mass Mailer?  I want to check that everybody received an email, as I'm not sure the Mass Mailer is working ok.  Once the email has been sent, does it disappear from the queue automatically?

cheers

Jackie

the message will send to your "member mail" , not to your member message at your dolphin site.

Sorry, can you explain that differently as I'm not sure what you mean? Do I have to go somewhere on my cpanel to check if the message was sent???

I have the same feeling that mass mailer is sending to portion of the signed members. Most of my users are still in Promotion mode and I guess they are not included in the list.

I've looked on the select code

$aMembers = $MySQL->getAll("SELECT `ID` AS `id`, `Email` AS `email` FROM `Profiles` WHERE `Status` <> 'Unconfirmed' AND `EmailNotify` = 1 {$sex_filter_sql} {$age_filter_sql} {$country_filter_sql}");
foreach($aMembers as $aMember) {
if(empty($aMember['email']))
continue;

//--- Dynamic membership filter
$membership_info = getMemberMembershipInfo($aMember['id']);
if ($membershipID != -1 && $membership_info['ID'] != $membershipID )
continue;

And I suspect that the line in red is the caused for eliminating the rest of members from the list

Am I right?

I don't believe promotional memberships should be eliminated from mailing as a result of that line of code in red.  All people who join are assigned a member ID.  It is the way their information is added to the database.  Promotional membership is a valid membership.  If they later upgrade, their ID remains the same.

If you want to check on whether a mailing is going out successfully, set up a test membership with a different email address from your admin email address and see if you get it.

One serious problem I have encountered on my site is that about 1/3 of my email is being blocked by some mail servers, hotmail in particular, as SPAM.  I have no solution so far for this.

I was checking the mass mailer and have strange behaviour:

1. When selecting Send to subscribers and in the table I have one member it's creating 1 job in the queue

2. When selecting all members (and in the ? help I can see a message that there are 12 members) it's only adds the members in the about.

Somehow he is not selecting the members from the profiles table. All the members are in promotion.

I think there is a problem with the select statement...I changes and removed the where and now it is selecting all.

I'll take a look later why the where is not working

Hi, is there anyone that can answer my original question about how Mass Mailer works please?????  And from what has been said above, I presume the only way to see if it works is to set up a dummy profile?   Any help would be appreciated as the guy that I paid to set up my site for me isn't answering my emails anymore for some reason, so any queries I have will have to be answered here.

cheers

You will receive a report every time that messages has been sent. You will receive such report every time that 20 (30, 40, 50... depending of your own settings) messages has been sent, every 5 (10, 20... minutes depending of your own cron jobs).

This report also shows the number of messages still in queue :-)

For those people that have issue with mass mailer when choosing members, you should be aware that in the select statment there is an AND for all the frields. Therefore if user didn't feel country or something else the db request can eleiminate those members.

In my case I removed the WHERE clause and sending it to all members, but now that you know it's required, you can mandate it in the join/edit

Just thought people will be interested in my experience.
