Do you mean make em private for members only to see or private for members so that only friends can see them?

For members only to see you have to do it in Settings => Membership Level

If private for members this is in your profile Dashboard => Privacy Settings

If you create a album then you can set it while creating the new album "Allow viewing album to"

And..

How do i configure it in such a way that private pictures are not show.

Now if a user selects, SEE ALL PHOTOS .. private pictures are shown with a LOCK and PRIVATE underneath it . how do i disable this? I dont want this to be shown at all.

@wannabe this is an issue some moderator will have to answer. In such folders are also pics stored when you create a group and add a photo and so on.

Good luck :-)

You cannot hide the silly blue private folders. This has been a complaint for quite some time by a number of people including me.

It is supposed to be corrected in the upcoming dolphin 7.1

Apparently, not even Boonex knows how to do it.

dont rely too much guys on 7.1 as from all sign it looks 7.1 tickets will be heavily stripped and many tickets gonna be postponed to versions after 7.1 as usually. I was waiting over year for 7.1 mainly for timezones and affiliate but  Im afraid that those and also other tickets gonna be removed from 7.1 at least looks like it..anyway we will see ...just wanted point that as deano said blue padlocks are really bad idea, ticket is there for 7.1 but dont too much rely that it get fixed in 7.1 as you can be disappointed..

Hi,

yes, they can be hidden, but it will show up an empty space where they were supposed to be.

Also, you can modify the picture, that is, replace the bluepaddlocks for another icon.

Which would you prefer, so I post here the solution?

Hiding the blue padlock is worse than seeing it.  You can end up with pages and pages of nothing when browsing photos, and it will be a very bad user experience.  It's better to change the icon to something better.

Boonex has recently said that they are working on this problem right now.  Maybe we'll see a fix soon.

Agreed, specially that last part, that it should be fixed.

We did it, because we installed a new private photos mod and are trying to convince users to convert their private albuns ( I kow it's utopic but...)

Nevertheless, this was our last choice, what we would REALLY want would be to have the nickname under the private photo, to identify the user. As it is now, it is completely useless, if you click on the photo it does not take you to the users profile, it is trully a waist of space and a sore to sensitive eyes...

Unfortunatelly, it seems want we want is not that easy to solve either...

Just an idea.  I use several versions of this.

Why is it necessary for a member who doesn't have the permissions to see or hear something, to be made aware that something exists they can't see!!  Aside from adding to the clutter of webpages as HL noted, it seems pointless.

Wouldn't it be better if Dolphin was designed so that a member could only see evidence of what their permissions allowed them to see??

Someday, Someway.

Sorry, but I think you miss the point...

The fact that a member posts something that is not entended for EVERYONE to see does not mean that he does not entend to have it visible for SOME people to see...So he posts as Private, but if someone can identify who post what, then they can ask for permission to see it, and that can be granted trough a member's list creted with the Privacy settings....

After all, not  ALL private posts are meant to be for the user only or for an initial group of authorised people...Why post then? We are talking abot communities here, where usually people like to share things, albeit not with everyone...thing being if the others do not see it, newcomers for instance, they can not ask to be granted permission to see it...
