Magnussoft and UFO360 Moderator Post: Hidden

I have received several complaints regarding the post made by RopeMan that was requesting Magnussoft and UFO360 lose their moderator status. If you are wondering why I decided to hide this post, please see the following reasons below:

- The initial opening request was probably the only post that had anything to do with the topic

- This post quickly became a place of flaming wars and name calling

- Too many edits were having to be done by Moderators to attempt everyone to adhere to forum rules.

- 90% of the posts had absolutely nothing to do with the dispute

EVERYONE has to follow 'general netiquette' when posting in the forums. Here is some advise that I would like to give everyone:

1. Keep your forum posts on topic's subject

2. Do not participate in name calling, 'trolling', foul language, or ANY type of personal insults.

3. People at Unity come from all over the world. There may be words you may not understand or to you, may mean something totally different; Don't assume you know what they mean.

4. Some people at Unity have a tendency to come across as 'sarcastic' or rude. Before creating a scene and automatically retaliating with insults, try to keep an open mind that 'maybe' that's just the way that person is... 'direct'.

Following the rules here at Unity is not a hard thing to do. So when you are not following these rules, I do not want to see any post wondering 'why did I get banned' or asking for Moderators to lose their status because action was taken upon you. Only Andrew Boon decides 'who' can be a Moderator. If you have a problem with a Moderator, you may want to contact him first before posting your thoughts in the Forum.

@ Ropeman - If you would like to create a new 'dispute' topic regarding your request for Magnussoft and UFO360's Moderator status to be removed, then by all means feel free to do so. Keep in mind (to everyone) - If you do create a new topic, keep the posts on the subject and follow the rules or else disciplinary actions will be taken by me this time :)

I strongly suggest that ropeman resquest be denied!!

@Newton27 - The 'hide' feature does not delete the post, it just removes it when browsing that forum category. If you have a direct link to the forum post, then you can always see it.

I want Zarcon and to whom it may concern to know and respond. I'm not out to hurt this site..

but what about a "sex[EDIT] really any site IMHO" site saying very bad things, your the moderator and you remove because of implications... you block and you think it's gone.. it's not. This serious for those with private issues.

In that case I would 'delete' the topic and not hide it. You can give 'Moderators' permissions to delete forum topic in your membership levels.

this site has MANY "removed" "topics" which are easily found and re readable..

Sorry, I was speaking of your own person site and how forum hide/deletes would work. Here at Unity, as Moderators, we only have the permissions they give us, which in the forums is hide and edit.

If we hide the whole topic, it will do as I explained previously, however if you just hide a comment within the forum post it is just made invisible until someone clicks the 'unhide' option.

It's obvious that he would rather sit and whine and cry about what his site can/can't do, insult the FB cloners and come with witty insults to throw out at people than to actually help anyone out.  If this is a community for uniting people from different cultures, how does HoustonLively actually help anyone in the end?

So your stating that in #4 a person who is "sarcastic" is a person who is... direct.  Not sure that I can agree.  A direct person simply answers without beating around the bush, a sarcastic individual will use wit with an attempt to embarass an individual to give an answer.  Vast amount of ground in between the two.

Examples:

Direct:  Are you going for a drive?  Yes.

Sarcastic:  Are you going for a drive?  No I just thought I'd throw your keys in the field across town and see how long it takes you to walk over there and find 'em.

Both give an answer, on is direct and the other is sarcastic.  Can you figure out which is which?

Hidden topics are only viewable by moderators and administrators. I don't know what you're talking about, since that topic isn't visible to me when logged out.

I'm not an Admin nor a moderator..but I can pull every single post the moderators have taken down...

Your last two posts have left me confused. You can see hidden topics, but then you can't? If you're referring to posts, those are only collapsed, not hidden.

If the entire topic is hidden, only moderators and administrators can view it. if only a post in the topic is hidden, the topic itself is viewable to all, and the hidden post is collapsed (but can still be viewed if manually toggled).

The topic you linked to itself is hidden. It cannot be viewed by guests or normal members.

It's one of the many things I'll need to harrass AlexT about. I've also been asking him to make hidden posts remain hidden. I'll send him a message again about the moderation tools and shortcomings.

You can stop posting screenshots, as it's quite annoying. I know you're browsing people's posting history, which includes that nifty little expand option.

I've sent a message to AlexT, so he should be dealing with it as soon as possible. I've also asked him to change the way hidden posts are treated, which should make that system a little more sane. It's not a major issue, since posts which have serious rule-breaking content are edited.

I was courteous to remove the photos, I hate this Mag..
