MODULE INSTALLATION FAILURE MESSAGE: WHY WOULD A MODULE NOT INSTALL?

Installed a template that would change the look and style of my site, but when I tried to install the module in Dolphin Admin>Modules as instructed, I got the following failure message (under Operation Results):

Cannot install module from ">intentionally removed to protect the innocent</fb_template/" directory Failed

Worth noting -- the specific module that I needed to install did show under "Not Installed Modules" in the Dolphin Admin>Modules section as the install instructions stated.

So, instead of trying to read through EVERY Boonex forum posting that includes the words "module", "not", "install" (and every variation), I hope the more-experienced, kind and thoughtful developers in this community would share their best practices in this post (for the benefit of Dolphin-nubs like myself) to make the search on this issue "easier" for other Dolphin-nub.

Now, I did read one posting from a developer that admitted developers should do a better job writing instructions (here-here). Another posting admitted that packages are not "packed" correctly.

So what I'd like for everyone to do is state reasons why the module install would create such a message. I'll try them all and then report back the results. This information will be help to other Dolphin-nubs.

That said -- "please help."

* By the way, I use to write work instructions. I'm a Lean DMAIC Six Sigma guy so if you need help with instruction development, let me know.

Did you contact the module's developer?

That said, did you expand the message using the "+" icon next to the error message? If so, what did it say?

Thanks for your input.

Yes -- I did contact the mod's developer and I waiting for a response. Further, I did expand the message by clicking the "+" icon, and nothing was there; it didn't really do anything; the "+" icon turned into a "-" icon. No additional message.

Update: Developer resolved the issue to my satisfaction.
