First off, we have 2 licenses, so I can run two dolphin sites legally. But as a curiousity, and since it has been brought up before, I wanted to get a better understanding of a specific scenario.
So, we all know that you should have a license for each site that you want to (and for simplicity sake, we will just say) "register". I was told a long time ago that a site within a site can get away with not having a license. So, that is what my question is in regards to.
Scenario 1
- Site 1 is at /home/cpanel_user/public_html
- Site 2 is at /home/cpanel_user/public_html/site_2
- Site 2 is not an added domain to the cPanel
In this scenario, is it ok to run a site within a site and only have the license in site 1?
Scenario 2
- Site 1 is at /home/cpanel_user/public_html
- Site 2 is at /home/cpanel_user/public_html/site_2.com
- Site 2 is an added domain to the cPanel
In this scenario, is it ok to run a site within a site and only have the license in site 1?
I am asking this question, for a couple of reasons. FIrst off, I will be using the second scenario, and need to know if I need to purchase more licenses for added sites that I will be setting up (app. 3 more). Also, I was having problems with a module. Although it says that sites must be on same server, I have found that because of file permissions, group and owner permissions, open_basedir, and some other issues specific to my server because of the added security to maintain HIPAA compliancy, in order to use the module in question, all sites must be in the same cPanel, not just on the same server.
