Hi, i want to limit the disk usage quota limit per member...
with all the upload of photo, video or music files... it is possible to set by example
Regular member have 25 meg for uploaded data(not embed)
Premium member have 100 meg
Ultimate member have 500 meg
because for now the action limit per membership by default installed in dolphin is not enough complete to make sure that member will not abuse of uploading stuff on the server and fill my entire server disk space...
thx

There is a module in the market to handle this. You can also allow members to buy additional storage space. The module is the Traffic Inspector by ESASE. Now, having said that the module has a problem in that if a member removes content; such as a photo or video; it does not update the database. ESASE has agreed to work on fixing this problem but the last I looked the module had not been updated. I would contact ESASE about when he thinks he will have the fix done. It is a nice module, I have it installed on my site; it just has that one problem and I hope ESASE will soon have it fixed and updated. Geeks, making the world a better place |
its true. i just forgot the name of the mod...
but it is only traffic? or disk space used... me i dont care if a member watch unlimited video... but i just care about how many video he upload on the server...
also what happen if the membership of a member expire...? he s content are deleted or only he cant upload any stuff

No, the name is a bit misleading. It is not bandwidth, it is disk space that the module lets you control. You set a base space that everyone gets. Then you can set up amounts that can be purchased. I like the module if he can figure out the issue with deleting content.

just curious GG, are these items that have been approved by admin? caredesign.net |

I never ran the module with content that needed to be approved by admins. On our site all content is auto approved; we remove content after the fact. So your question is a good one. Currently the module doesn't update the module's database table when a user removes content; I would assume the same will hold for admins. That would need to be tested if ESASE can fix the issue; when an admin removes content, it should also update the module's table.

ESASE told me he is working on the module. Please send him a PM and see how things are coming along. If he knows there is a potential purchase in the future...
The module works, it will limit the amount of space that a user can use. It just has this kink in it that needed to be worked out where when a member deletes a photo or video, it does not free up the space. I still have it installed on my site; I just have to manually adjust the table that controls the amount of space if a member deletes content and still can not upload.

nice module find :-) this could be essential for my site thanks!
if anyone notices it getting updated, please post to here?

If esase updates that module that controls disk space and linked membership level restrictions... I think more people will buy it.
