Is there any module for auto delete old Articles?

Hi, i want to know if someone can create a module that can delete older Articles via cron job...

By example delete articles older than X days or month

I use an auto RSS article fetcher... but now i got sooooo many articles that i want to delete some.. older...

so it will be nice to have an automatic delete mod...

or is there a SQL query that can delete these articles per listing date.. like more than 3 months old...

thx

it's not that difficult to do if you know coding.
create the cronjob in your server conjob panel and if you know php you can build the query action that delete the rows in your table.

well no.. im not a coder :(

so if someone can create a free mod for that on the market it could be very useful :)

well geekgirl, take a look on the market and you will see a lot of FREE template and mod...

its not a very big mod... only cron job with one SQL querie...

but by the way i spend over 1000$ in mods and template since i use dolphin... so one free once dont kill anybody....

I think it's n big deal either...  one article-cron.php and one line in the sys_cron_table.
btw: i think that a lot of the modules are overpriced anyways for what they do...

Then buying one more should not hurt LOL.

solusoft gave you the outline of how to do it; perhaps they will also give you the code.  Or, you could log into your database and just click on the rows you wish to remove and press go.  Let's say you want to delete the first 50 articles; then set your database tool to display 50 rows at a time; you can simply let it show the first 50 since they will be the oldest articles.  Then you use the select all checkbox and then click on delete and bam, 50 old articles are gone.

If you were a module developer then you would be able to see the big picture. Selling the module is just the beginning. When you have to deal with requests for support then you realize that the price is actually way cheaper than what it should be . That is why the majority of programmers find it more profitable to deal with custom jobs instead (that explains why there are only a few longstanding mod developers in the market). There are persons who believe that once they purchase a mod from you, they own you so you should be available at the click of a finger during the nights, on weekends etc. There is another set that believe you should handle all the custom changes they need for free ... and the list goes on. What I am trying to show you is that you do not just sell a module and the client disappears afterwards. In many cases, you have to spend significant amount of time dealing with them (hours or days in some case) and that time is not always paid for. This is where the price of mods is more than justified.

@Modzzz, i understand what you are saying but you are one of the few that really makes an effort here.
Lots of vendors/developers have put modules on the market that are not worth the price they are asking and keep you hanging for days or weeks or even worse don't bother to respond at all.

Of course one way would be to add the features and then add it as a new "premium" version of the module; there would be nothing wrong with that and if the person wanted the extra features then they could ask about an upgrade price to get the new module added (replacing the old module in their account) or they could just buy the new premium version.

I have made requests along the lines of, would it be easy....  I don't expect a developer to spend days adding a feature just for me.  Often I ask about guidance in how to do it myself.  I have also paid developers to make changes in modules when I need customisastion; of course my skill of Dolphin has increased to where I understand more about the classes and functions of Dolphin.  If one pays $30.00 for a mod and then want customisations that will take days to weeks, they should expect to pay for that work.  I do make requests for new features but not under any time frame; just what I think would be improvements that could help the module to sell; if I never see the new features it is no big deal.  If I really need them, I will add them myself.
