Invite only isn't working & tracking invitations

Two invitation issues

  1. The invite only feature isn't working. It was working but now anyone can login w/o an invitation. I've done so many customizations that I'm not sure what is affecting the invite only bit (or if this is a known glitch, I've seen other posts for it - but no solutions). I've checked the index.php & join.php and all of the registration by invitation only code is intact. Help!
  2. Is there a way to track invitations and registrations to see who invited whom?

Oh boy... Ok, lets start when you have noticed the issue and what changes you have done.  Do you have a doc file of changes you have done?

Since you stated " I've done so many customizations that I'm not sure what is affecting the invite only bit "    I hate to say it but.... You might want to open a support ticket on this one and hopefully get a quick solution...

hahaha - Yeah, I know it's going to be fun to untangle problems w/ the customizations. And the fun little twist is that every time I fix one issue, something else appears. I'm not sure if it's me or the software at this point!!

I only noticed the issue today, but I can't even remember when I last looked at the logins. We were doing tests on logins 3 days ago -so could be then. It definitely was working up until then. I do keep a doc of changes, and a file of all mods, extensions, and code changes as well so that I can trace just this sort of thing. However, looking through that list nothing seems to impact the coding that would be affecting invites only. Here's a list:

  • Deano's Redirect after Logon Mod
  • trying out a mod someone is creating for me to make all users automatically have to register for a membership - installed and uninstalled
  • created the test environment for using payments through paypal, I've since made that inactive.
  • removed the cmt-rate feature (using this fix)
  • fixed a login issue (people couldn't log in at all) by changing the login settings to "allow all except those on list"
  • did the phpimage mod for tiny_mce
  • changed where the wall subscription pulls from (from default wall to IBDW wall)
  • changed priv photos to not show instead of showing locks
  • updating lang keys to remove awkward and incorrect wording
  • updating email templates to create html emails and remove awkward and incorrect wording
  • then general site stuff that I can't see impacting it at all: resetting shoutbox timing settings, adjusting video player size (or attempting to!!), rearranging page blocks and menu orders, uploading media, creating clubs, events, blog posts, etc.

None of these touch any of the files that I can see relate to logging in, in general, or to invitation only  designations, specifically. Although I'm not sure that I'm finding all of the files involved in these actions!

Hope that helps, if more info is needed, let me know!

So the meta-question is: are the gremlinz programmed into dolphin? Or are they just here for me? hahahaha

I had someone test out the login and they got the invitation only access denied message as they should. So it's just my computer, which is odd, it was working as invite only here before. *shrugs* as long as it's keeping everyone else at bay, i'm fine w/ it letting me in!!

So I"m left w/ the 2nd ?: Is there a way to track invitations and registrations to see who invited whom?
