Images no longer indexed.

I currently have a total of 21,921 images in the data folder for my photos mod. These are images I have collected over the years. If course some are thumbs, some are originals and some are reduced to fit the pages.

Most of them are no longer accessible from within my Dolphin site. They just disappear over time. They are still there, just no longer indexed. The photo mod and the Dolphin script has been doing this for a very long time. I have complained about it before but it always falls on deaf ears. The way this script handles these images is poor at best and worthless overall.

Is there a better way? I am now forced to create some sort of 'lost' photo directory where at least the images can be accessed.....

Are these orphaned images from deleted members?  I wrote a ticket for that problem about 5 years ago.

Or is it some other issue?

I think that's it... I collect images like normal people collect. Well, I don't know anyone that collects anything like I collect images.

I have never liked how Dolphin handles images....Also, my site has been through a ton of upgrades since I put it up not to mention losing the entire thing once...

how big is the partition where photo files are stored ?

what is the filesystem type on this partition, ext3 ?

I need to spend some time actually identifying what's missing, who it belonged to, etc. With my schedule the way it is right now, might take me a couple weeks. I'll add to this post when I get it done. Thanks Alex....
