I have an important question...

I am at the last step of installing the dolphin 7 software. Have followed the steps and no problem so far but with this last step I am a little confused, (setup manual really needs to be re-written) because the manual is not clear on which "inc" file to edit nor is it exactly clear on what permission I should setup on the file.

It should say "go to inc folder in root directory and change permission to "755". But it doesn't. So my problem is this.

There are two "inc" folders. One in the root directory and another deep in the "flash" directory. I take it the manual is addressing the one in the root directory. Am I correct?

Then which permission do I set it to? 644? 755? I am a little confused here.

Now I know it must be set to "Non - Writeable" and I did that in my last installation and I came up with a "fatal error - can't find security.php in header.php file". I'm paraphrasing here but you get the idea. I did some research but no real answer surfaced so I re-installed the software.

Since I don't want to repeat the same error I want to ask you - the experts which "inc" file I need to modify and which permission to use.

Thanks in advance.

I usually set my root inc folder to 555 and haven't had any issues.

Funny you should bring it up - I've been working on an installation walk through video that I wish I had ready for you..

You know I have installed this thing, (today and in the past) five or six times and never had an issue. Now all of a sudden I have this. Sometimes this stuff drives you crazy! And yes, a video would be a HUGE help.

well the instruction is clear based on the directory tree path. if the instruction intended for you to chmod any of the other inc directories, it would have to give you the path i.e. flash/inc or forum/inc

because it states to chmod the inc directory, the relative association, would be the inc directory on the root path of dolphin.

so should at minimum chmod inc 755, most of us as stated, will chmod inc 555.

if you need further help, please let us know.

Here are the errors I am getting. I have never had these before in my other installs. I have attached a 2 minute informative video for clarification.

I see you are hosting on godaddy.

There are 2 common problems when hosting with godaddy. Which is why many here recommend avoiding godaddy.

Problem 1) Dolphin is not always able to obtain the proper path thus sets it incorrectly in inc/header.inc.php.

So open inc/header.inc.php and look for the following.

$dir['root']

The value appears to be

home/content/t/i/m/timandrob/html/mlm_doc_community/

I however suspect the proper path is suppose to be

home/content/t/i/m/timandrob/html/mlmdoctor/mlm_doc_community/

So try changing that.

Problem 2. Godaddys servers quite often require a rewrite base setting be added to .htaccess.

So open the .htaccess file in the root of the dolphin install and add this

RewriteBase /

Right after this line.

RewriteEngine on

So you have this.

RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
