I Don't like it !... (7.1)

With all this great news about 7.1 comes also bad news for some. Like the ones that do the upgrades manually.
Core improvements and especially with the new layout AND NO I DON"T like the new layout !...

Boonex why can't you just do core improvements and not include the layout (or do it separately ) that way people can apply the changes and not be forced to use the new layout, i have spent countless hours modifying my current layout. And now im facing countless hours again sorting out the new layout  from the core changes to make it work with my current template.

Some sugesstions for 7.XXXX

Avatar module isn't needed
Forum needs major overhoul (take a look at some of the very simplest forums out there)
Chat module is a joke
Actions pop-up box is a joke as well (make it auto hide)

there's so much more, i can make a list if interested

I can't wait to find out which third party modules don't work anymore.... especially the ones that require edits to source files.  It's a foregone conclusion that all existing templates will be useless.  Andrew mentioned some minor improvements, but the worst nagging issues will remain.  So far, I haven't seen any compelling reason to upgrade from 7.0.9 to 7.1 when it's available.

I'm not updating squat. I'm letting my current version run it's course, then I'm dropping the entire project.

 Valid point, but im not worried about the amount of modules installed i don't have that many (less then 20).
The layout is the deal breaker here.

I was responding to houstonlively.  You're mucking around in core files, of course those changes might be overwritten.  I need to run some tests on modules.  But templates have been changed, so no current template will work in the new version.

 Read this article, at least you can fix the actions pop up.  I have done a LOT of work on this part of dolphin, maybe search for my name and see other ideas I came up with.
