I Do Not Have An Ads Page

Since my update to 7.1 by a developer, I have been unable to figure out why my ADS page has disappeared nor how to get it back.  I have another developer that has inquired about this and wants to know how to replace it.  He is a PHP expert, but not a Dolphin expert.

It has simply disappeared.  I was upgraded fro 7.0.5 to 7.1 and I have had issues/kinks in between.  As far as going back to the developer that upgraded me...that's a no go.   What can I have the new dev do to fix this?

What can I do to recover this information?  Upgrades scare me now. ;/

My answer is to hire a Dolphin developer; or wait for your developer to learn Dolphin.

Are you paying this php developer or are they working for free?

He has actually done a great job in fixing the past issues.  I guess the issue is getting the information needed to fix the ads.  He requested the 7.0.5 version of ads so that he may see what the issue is along the way for it to cause an issue with 7.1.4

I pay this developer hourly.

Check your error logs on your server.  Some clues may lie within.

So are you willing to pay some of the developers on here for the knowledge that you are going to pass on to the guy you are paying?  There are many developers on here that know Dolphin that are struggling to pay their bills.  We love helping and giving free advice and if you look, that is done over and over.  However, when hiring, hire some Dolphin developers; you will get developers that already know Dolphin and help to keep the community going.  We have already had one developer that had to find a full time job outside of Boonex and that means that developer is not able to come on to the forums and give free advice as much as he use to be able to do; the community is thus weakened a bit.  Hire Dolphin developers and help keep the community going.

OK, I am now stepping off of my soapbox.

Geek_girl, I completely hear what you're saying.  MOST of the devs I have dealt with are from Boonex.  And you are right, they have bills to pay and because of those bills, my work was put off even after paying!  One of them said,  "I am busy with family and other work." lol - they got my money though, sadly.

I had another one say that they weren't feeling it anymore as though the job was not rewarding enough and just went completely MIA.  Now THAT one shocked me.  Funny, because they came to me about the job and I paid on time respectfully.  I guess it was boring or not a priority.

BTW, a dolphin dev is the reason why my site is quite screwed up in so many places and I honestly feel because the details were overlooked due to their overwhelming schedule.  Trust me, I wish to stick with one dev so I don't have to continue hearing, "Ohyea, that dev screwed up...they should have done this/that..."  Its tiring actually.

Bad experience all together.

All that matters is fairness with my funds and their time, which should be respected both ways.

This information has already been sent to dev to review the suggestions on this page.  Thank you for the suggestion, houstonlively.

Seeing that your ads page is showing a fatal error, it would surprise me if your 'PHP expert' hasn't already done that.  The contents of your error log that are related to the fatal error, posted here, would be helpful in diagnosing your problem.

Good information yields good results.

Your title says "I do not have a ads page"

Thats not really accurate. A accurate description is "My ads page shows error. checkAction() fatal error. Unknown action ID: 0"

Saying you have no ads page when the ads page is clearly showing a error is not helpful.

Anyhow. checkAction() fatal error. Unknown action ID: 0 indicates that the ads module did not properly upgrade when the site was upgraded. Check version of module as listed in the modules section in admin and see if the version is 1.1.4 which is what it should be if it upgraded to match dolphin 7.1.4

The error indicates a action installed by the ads module is missing.
