How to track the IP Address of User

Hello,

I want to keep the "IP Address" of every user of my site. I can see few IP Addresses in administration, like in tools section there is a column "IP Blacklist" but I am getting the list only from Jan. 2013, but my site is running since 2011, how can I track the IP Address before Jan. 2013, Is there any other way to track the IP Addresses of the user. Also I want to keep IP address of Visitors of my site, please let me know how can I do that, it's very urgent...!!!

Thanks

Admin Panel - Advanced Settings - Pruning - here you can change the length of time to store ip addresses - I think default is 90 days.

Go into your admin panel, modules, click on the deanos tools, and there is a section for ip addresses, and no it wont affect anything else on your site.

Enable the tracking of guests by clicking -> Deanos Tools Settings

then the bottom setting IP Address Log Guest Visits. 1 = Yes, 0 = No:

set this to 1

Save the settings

Scroll down to IP Address Log

Look at guests IP's

Replacing the file in Deano's Tools -> Classes with this one will look up the IP you click on and check it against the database at the StopForumSpam website and give you statistics about the IP. Some very interesting stuff.

Don't replace this file if you don't know what your doing or don't know how to fix it if you mess it up.

Backup or rename the original incase you have version mismatches or some other problem so you can revert.

manually upload the deanos folder to your modules folder - not the modules/boonex folder - then clear your cache and try installing.

Sometimes modules wont load the way you are trying cause the zip files may contain different versions folders. so i find it best to just manually upload any modules i am going to use.

ok lets do a step by step then.

1 - download deanos tools,

2 - unzip the package,

3 - open the deanos tools folder, should be two folders in there. One for D7.1.0 and one for 7.0.0 to 7.0.9

4 - open the folder for your corresponding version - then open the modules folder

5 - in here is a folder called deano - upload this deano folder to your modules folder - so you should have a boonex folder and a deano folder in your modules folder.

6 - clear all of your caches then go to your admin panel - modules

Thanks, now it works, but let me know do I need to specify the time limit to keep the ip address with it or it will contain all the ip address forever automatically...!!!

i believe you need to change the time frame - at least I would to be on the safe side

No.

There are no settings to purge or clear the logs. Right now the only way to clear the logs are to uninstall and reinstall the mod which dumps the database data.

Although the mod was updated to support the new dolphin version, no new features have been added for over 2 years. My free mods are not on my priority list right now for enhancements.

I also strongly recommend not logging guest ip addresses anyway. It will chew up a lot of space and logging each and every hit to your site will slow down performance. The option to log guests is there for when it needed to try and track a nuisance member or spammer that keeps visiting your site. It was never intended from long term permanent use.
