How to assign a Moderator or another Administrator?

How can I assign a new Moderator for my Orca forum?  And how can I assign another Administrator to all my network?

For proper forum moderator functions you have to wait for D7.1 version. YOu cant assign subadministrator accounts with backend access now (hope this will be also solved in 7.1) but you can assign another full administrators with full backend access (pray they dont crash your site) to do so the best way is install Deano Tools (you will find that in makret) - thanks to Deano its free and you will be able to assign whenever you want as a fulladmin...

Yeah, you got the point.  I'm not that comfortable to give someone full-back end access to my community (he could demote me as well I think?!?).

My idea was to give him admin access just to the forum as he would have helped me out to clean up some crap users write.  A real shame this is not possible!

When is the 7.1 out?

I have read so many people requiring such modification.

So we have decided to create it and we are working on it.

It's a very difficult thing to realize, because there are a lot of modifications to do on the Dolphin core.

So I am wondering if this modification will be good, and for how many people.

We will not provide this modification for free, because it's a very big modification.

But we would like to know how many people would like this mod, and we would also like some advices from you, requests, and maybe also your desired price for such functionality.

I do not want to sell it for $200! Even if I should, because I repeat, it's a big work, but maybe we can find an agreement.

So, if many people here need such modification. If many people will give us good advices and requests, and if many people will advice a good price, well, we are ready to provide it soon and for a very good price.

Yes, like you said,  Add a membership level called Moderator and give them those permissions.

Yes this is a pretty good solution

But the mod we are going to make it's not for this.

This mod will give the possibility to the full administrator to choose other administrators.

The new administrators (sub-administrators) will be able to access the admin panel side, and they will be able to do certain actions decided by the full administrator.

This is what we are doing.

Any advice, request etc.. is very appreciated.

I vote for Deanos free tool! lol it's already done, you can assign any member to "Administrator" level.

Why bother yourself with creating something that is already a GREAT product?  Which includes a forum thread for support.

Maybe because you can't use that mod to give permitted actions to the sub-administrators.

Do you really want only full administrators on your site?

Do you know what that means?

Any good CMS has this possiblity.

Try to take a look to WHMCS. It's a billing system.

You will be able to have as many sub-administrators as you want, but you can give permitted actions.

So one FULL administrator, all the others just Moderators.

That's why man.

Yobi: well proper administrator /subadministrator / moderator levels are needed indeed.

I woud like to have actually 3 levels of moderation

1)moderators with basic moderation privilegies but no backend access

2)admins with moderator privilegies but also with limited backend access (set by superadmin)

3)superadmins - users with full permissions to do anything (same as admin now)

Superadmin should be able to create unlimited subadmin and manager level account with diferent permissions and different backend access. Also there should be some notification and approve tool. I mean super admin can set that some operation have to be approved first by superadmin or admin. SO even if subadmin is allowed perform certian sensitive operation in backend - that operation will not be performed unless approved by administrator.

ALso superadmins shoul have some report tool so they can see what exactly admins done , what date and what time altogether with overview of admins attendance to site - when they login , when they log out.

I think moderator, subadmin, superadmin system must be a most comprehensive system as its basically core of site. If there will be such comprehensive and good module I will buy it for sure.

Unfortunately Im afraid that your price expectations are unreal. People hardly spent 200 usd and you propose it gonna cost alot more - this render your mod practically unsellable and most people better wait till all this get slowly implemented by boonex team .

I think limit of price should be 100 USD 200usd topmax for really remarkable system but over 200usd is impossible...

yobi: also if u really start working on it than can be good idea open a dedicated forum thread so people can talk about features and also maybe cooperate on testing that  mod..

We have already started on working on this.

I do not want to sell it for $200.

I just want to know your ideas, and what could be the perfect price for you.

More people will need this modification, cheaper will be the price, this is my intention.

As for opening another thread I do not think it's a good idea.

Someone else could think I want just to have attention on me, but this is not what I want, I really want to know your ideas, advices and requirements for this modification, since it will be our first product in the market, and it's really important for us.

Well I think if your mod gonna be really comprehensive and working I think range 70- 100 USD is a optimal price for something like that. I would recommend you start at 70 around USD so it can be afordable for more people and you can get earlier paid for your invested time. IM not friend of an overpriced modules but in this cause its really tough job so I think 70 usd would be a minimal prioce for somethiíng like that .... but depends on overall quality and features....

This is why I am asking for ideas and requirements too. I am looking some other CMSs to grab some good ideas.

But more features, more time to be realized..and I want to complete it before the 7.1 release =D

I think u dont have to be afraid as I think only standard moderator level will be improved in 7.1 there is not any tickes mentioning membership level with admin access so there still will be needed whole comprehensive new system to manage this.

Also as you progress with work I think you can find here some people who can test it. for some good discount or a free copy :-) as there will be needeed really good tersting of whole app for a security a proper functionality.

That module is highly needed as without such a module by my opinion dolphin can be hardly use for a really professional site..SO I definitely support you idea

Definitely good idea also will be if superadmins can turn watermark on a profile pics so people see who is duper admin who is admin and who is moderator. There is already some aplp that mark user with a star if its moderator so something similar...

That could be possible too.

As for providing a free copy that won't be possible.

YobiLab has 3 programmers and two designers working every day at the moment, so I think they will be enough to test the mod =D
