I have probably asked this before, and just did a search and found more people who have asked, but not much out there is very definitive. How exactly does "matching work" - it is kind of a black box to many of us especially the "percent matching' part.
Let me explain what i am doing - it is not that complicated but i am not sure how the matching will work in this case. I have a business site with three fields I would like to use for matching: "Industry", "offering" and "requesting'. Industry will match on the same field - if you are in 'biotechnology' a match would be with another member with the industry of "biotechnology". 'offering' and 'requesting' match with each other - if you are offering 'financing' you should be matched with someone who is requesting financing. I only just recently learned that the matching numbers for all the fields you use must add up to 100 percent.
Now here is where is gets complicated, and I get confused. All my matching fields are multiple select checkbox fields. How will this affect the calculations? Someone could be offering "financing", 'technology" and "mentoring' while someone could be requesting "financing", "marketing" and 'design". Would this be a 33 percent match? How do multiple select fields, and multiple fields, affect the matching algorithm?
Any insights on this would be appreciated.
